If you want smog Gerard, go west – it’s all hovering off the edge of west coast California LA 😦
As for the scaffolding, there’s so much of this in the city and it is used as a platform for building works – those coming up, those coming down and those having work done to either exterior or interior.
Having seen this on insta it is so much more of a wonderful image in this post. Graphical, strong contrasts and the chaps shadow is elongated like those created by the scaffolding. His is lost in the many diagonal lines. Love it.
Ooh, Patti, I loved this on Instagram and it’s so nice to see it on the bigger screen. Great eye catching those shadows and the light on the man’s face. Terrific!
Love it! Sunsets can do such amazing things in New York, and the scaffolding was the perfect foil for the light. That distant glow behind the buildings just finishes it perfectly. I hope all is well with you – sure wish you were closer – I would love to take a stroll with you.
All fine here thank you Lyn (hot hot hot . . . . ) and hope same for you where you are. Loved your desert wanderings! Hope you get back here soon (or I get there!), yes, it would be so good to go walking. Still in awe of you picking wildflowers on the original high line!
I know what you mean about the city sunsets here Lyn, the images pop up out of nowhere and can disappear in a minute, and happen behind you which is how I found this after turning to look back. All best to you!
I tried to leave a comment before – but did not take?
anyhow, this photo is timeless – well had a modern feel – but in some ways it could be decades ago – and has a suspenseful, pensive mood. really love this….
Patti, such a great photo; seriously. This is one of those photos of yours I look at and remember why I like your work so much. Lovely to look through your recent posts 🙂
I absolutely adore this image Patti 😎
Oh Joe, big thank you!
‘Like the criss-crossing of lines, poles and shadows.
(Mental note: Pay more attention to shadows next time I shoot something)
😉
Putting the city to work, thank you Brian!
De rien.
Wonderful composition Patti. A superbe play of light and shadow with lots of details. Perfectly simple and simply perfect.
Thank you so much Stefan, always fun to see the light play. BTW, love your flying windows!
I wonder what the scaffolding is holding up? A great shot and so clearly without smog…

Thank you so much Chris and greetings to you in London!
Someone put that scaffolding up just for monochrome photography.
I like that idea, if not always the reality!
Love it!!😊
Than you so much amaranta! 👌
Fabulous!
You know you want to come back!
Caged and trapped in daily monotony.
Is my camera the prison warden or the key to freedom, and for whom . . . ?
excellent use of shadows 🙂
Thank you so much Joshi!
