Oh, I know, and I always used to get annoyed by harsh shadows! Now I know that you can get opportunities for very different images at that time of day….
great composition again, the human presence, though tiny in scale, is not lost in this intricate network of lines and shadows… some directly leading the eye to it… awesome shot!!
There is so much in this photo Patti, I really like it. The urban environment and the small but still meaningful human presence, all enhanced by the composition. Brava!

Patti, I may have commented on this wonderful photo on Monochromia, but if I did, I know I didn’t “see” the man the first time ’round. What an amazing eye you have, to capture the gorgeous shadows of the cart in the foreground, while getting the man pushing his own in the background. I now know how quickly you work but am still blown away by your timing in getting this! Just fantastic!
Almost a bit Cartier Bresson with the sunlight and shadows….
Thank you Sue, it was that high sun part of the day, the one they recommend you stay away from!

An element of mystery. The cart in the foreground stands alone as the person in the background pushes it. Nice little story here.
The Bronx is full of little mysteries, thank you Angeline!
Great photography; Really enjoy your pictures.
You are very kind Tex, thank you so so much!

I truly appreciate your valued opinion, thank you Alexandra!
Gorgeous range of lights and darks! Deep blacks, bright whites, and everything in between. Really well done! Evocative composition, too. Love it!
That’s so great to hear Alison, thank you very much!!

Thank you Robert from the bottom of my heart!
Fabulously composed as always Patti. Love how the lines and angles tie the two main elements together.
Most grateful, thank you so much Madhu!!
Great sun-bleached stillness Patti. And then the tiny figure of the man, trucking along! Nice double take.
Thank you so much Philippa, such a quiet part of town at that time of day as well!
Interesting scene with a great dynamic range. A No Standing sign next to the trolley would have been the icing on the cake. 🙂
There are times we just have to take what we get . . . . thank you so much Lignum 🙂
great contrast and a talking picture 🙂
very nice!
Thank you Emily!
Classic expression of relation and coincidence here.
Excellent contrasts, light and lines.

LOVE the stereo carts! Great.
Great ! I love the strong contrasts, composition. And a bit surprising too with this “caddie”. Well done.
Thank you kindly Cedric and yes, the caddie was a great surprise in the quiet of the day!
