A good photo but a bit grim. Is it safe there? What are you doing there with your camera at the ready? Could there be unsavoury characters hanging out there under that dark bridge? Be careful Patti.
I am, but I’m sure I’ll be out soon enough. The winter months have allowed me some time to get acquainted with a photo printer I very recently bought. I’ve started to make a few prints and I never thought I’d enjoy printing and framing so much.
Allan, do you ever find yourself somewhere and feel you have found a photographic sweet spot, where you feel strangely at home and not at all lonely? This was mine!
Ah Patti, you travel to the nicest places – Mott Haven! π This is one fantastic image. I think it’s one of your best. The piece of plastic bag or whatever on the street, with that dusting of snow creating gritty texture, the utterly gorgeous curves of shadow and highway, the dark silhouettes of the people, the vehicles just hinted at, even the curve of tire tread in the corner. Perfection. Really.

Thank you so much Gerard and please forgive me for asking but . . . are you serious?
I think the grim effect comes off well Patti π Looks relatively safe, could be worse you can be in the Fort Apache section π
But it felt so safe Joe, Fort Apache’s next to explore!
So atmospheric Patti…..love it!
Thank you Burgess, so much atmosphere in this part of town.
Elegant shot Patti.
Very good, I like it a lot!
Thank you Bente!
Excellent Patti – I love the general feeling of gloom despite the brightness of the light beyond the bridge π
It felt a lot less gloomy than it looks, thank you Martin! π
My favorite part of this photo is the “c” that is created by the shadow.
Lovely to hear, thank you Margie!
Oh no it’s spring and yet the snow is still falling.
I know and there’s talk of more snow showers to come!! Are you still hibernating?

“Film noir” at its best.
It’s a fabulons noir part of town, thank you Marcelo!
Winter Noir – disregards the Spring. Excellent. π
Doesn’t it just! Thank you kindly elmediat!
unusual shot
Thank you.
what a classic shot π
Thank you Joshi.
I was eager to see a bit of Mott Haven, as I hadn’t seen it in 30 years. It looks the same.
Love to know more about your Mott Haven Bumba. It’s such a strange but wonderful time-warp of a place.
I hope the snowing is over by now Patti! Nicely captured!
Thank you Indah, snow should be over by now but it was good while it lasted!
It doesn’t look unsafe to me, just a lonely time in a lonely spot.
