Colour in the streets of NYC with some of the soft white stuff in free fall.
I love these shots Patti especially the smiles you capture 😄
Sweet of you to say, thank you Joe!
I love looking at the pictures of the snow, rather than being in it! We’re expecting 70 degrees here in CA tomorrow…
Bet you’re so happy not to be in Boston now!
Yes, I think my husband is an absolute genius for taking a job in San Francisco 32 years ago!
Very reassuring when it is possible to get Mac & Fries for $5.-even during a blizzard. I would be tempted to nip inside and get the warm Macca with Fries. Lovely story of snow and people. Thanks Patti.
Next time we get a blizzard I will do Mac value research and tear myself away from Dunkin Donuts. Just for you Gerard!
Great photos. I love looking at snow when I’m not in it. I wonder how the ice cream sales were going.
Thank you Angeline, at least the ice cream has enough fried bases covered to cope with the season!
Love the photographs Patti……..nearly as good as being there but without the cold. Still I love the white stuff!
Thank you Burgess, a summer treat for you!
Nice walk in the snow, Patti.
Lovely to have you along Harrie!
Is that a dog in that lady’s pink hat and under the umbrella? And a shocking pink cross in the garbage can? Never a dull moment in your neighborhood.
Wow Julie, I can see now that her hairstyle does look like a small pup but I didn’t think so, now I’m not sure . . . . I did get a later shot of a woman at a bus stop with a small pooch looking out over her handbag. Great fun out and about!
These are gorgeous and popping, Patti! You have a great way with the portraits too.
That’s so good coming from you the portrait meister, thank you Richard!
Thank you so much!
Still snow! And still so good. Enjoyed the smiles too!
Colour indeed! Have camera will travel – no matter the forecast.
ALWAYS love your close ups of people best…they make me smile. Good job, as usual Patti!
Yeah, NOW we’re seeing winter really start to hit us!
excellent shots 🙂 loved the first one the most 🙂
I trully love it ! Great shot !
All of your pictures are really smart and very well done. But, if i had to choose i would choose the one with the bus. It’s a masterpiece!
Good winter photos Patti, i specially like the second one, the vivid colour of the umbrella, the two ladies smiling to you and the lady in the background enjoying her cigarette…yes, winter and snow can offer good photo opportunities and for sure you have been able to capture them!
Love the smiles from the MTA lady and the two ladies under their umbrella 🙂 At least some people are enjoying the snow!
The white stuff is just piling down, isn’t! I wish we could get some of it over here on the West Coast… Lovely photographs, capturing the winter and people’s response to it. I really like the one of the two girls under an umbrella and a smoker behind them.
Lovely group, especially “Game Master”
My mistake..”Game Express”
that’s NYC: to take the cold with humor and colors…
A great slice of pizza and NYC:)
Fantastic, thank you Elena!
brrrrrrrrrr… once again some fantastic scenes of NYC
A long time before we enjoy blazing red sunsets here Derrick!
I know… I’m ready for them!!
brrrrrrrrrr is right! I’ve just about had it with winter, i’m ready for spring. Great shots!
Thank you Mark, I’m sure spring can’t be too far away by now . . . . can it?
Color coordination in some of your shots is phenomenal, Patti!
Could not escape the colour Annie, thank you so much!
Ah colour! The spice of life. Or one of them. Nice series Patti.
Thank you so much Philippa, not fighting the colour with this set!
I love the pops of color in the snow, fantastic images. I think I need to move to the city…not much color where I am…just white, white and more white!
But Susan, I love where you find light, colours, shades and tones in your beautiful shots! I also understand you have had more than enough snow for this winter and the next!
Lovely street captures, Patti. Do you wear the camera outside your coat or inside it? I guess precipitation and moisture can be a problem.
Thank you Lignum and yes I do wear the camera inside my coat, around my neck which I usually loathe (i.e. uncomfortable) but what with scarves, hats etc I don’t feel the strap and camera weighing me down. I also use the lens hood, for what that’s worth and I have tried shooting through a plastic bag but what with the wind etc, it was a mess. I was a mess. I probably looked as though I was glugging whiskey from a quiet bottle. What are your tricks in bad weather? I’m thinking a smaller camera might help!
I’ve learnt the hard way not to change lenses in bad weather. Otherwise I do what you do. Inside a coat with lens hood and UV filter.
These photos are so great Patti! The first one with the bus is incredible, I love it! 🙂
Thank you so much Elina. Snow shots are so full of variables what with the wind blowing this way and that etc – like I’m telling you something you don’t know already!
Winter Metropolis Super
You have seen a lot of snow this year Patti. These are terrific and I am sorry I have missed them. The orange bus with the snow drift is my favourite. I read the conversation between you and Draco (very useful). Do you use a lot of silica gel to dry your camera afterwards?
