About these not looking American? I am now more intrigued than ever as to the concept of “what is American?” now that I am deep in the thick of it. Would love to hear more thoughts on this!
November seems so long ago already doesn’t it! Thank you Kris for kind words, it’s fun to explore other parts of the city without always going to Central Park for “trees in snow!”
The photo with the benches – Snow Promenade – could be a cover for a mystery murder novel. Your photos showcase the cold really well.
BBrrrrr … !!!! : )
Thank you Joe! I should have mentioned, I took these photos in the early stages of impending blizzard, waiting for the worst! This, as it turns out, was the best of the worst!
Thank you Julie, hard to describe how good it feels walking around any time let alone in that and yes, another storm on the way but sadly am out of town for the moment, hope I don’t miss a good one!
Hi Patti! I really love this chill. And the rhythms and soft hints of colour. The last one with the angled legs and the frame also angled made me smile. Nice winter work!
Patti, you’ve capture the quiet that comes with snowfall just splendidly. It’s the thing I like most about this kind of weather. I especially like the playground – something about the blue of the structures just captures my eye. All are hauntingly beautiful.
Doesn’t really look that American.
That’s so funny, I don’t know what to say! 🙂
I had exactly the same thought 🙂

our snowfall, which came in november, was even less, although it lasted almost a week which is a rare thing. it usually melts within a day or two.
that second image is especially compelling. love the lines…..

Harlem is looking lonesome again.
This patch for sure!
Just exquisite and haunting.
Thank you so much EF! For all the impending drama it was so peaceful out and about.
Great shots Patti. It warms the heart, quickens the soul.
Giving new meaning to cold comfort, thank you Gerard!

Hadn’t thought of murder-mystery, hmmm . . . Thank you Issy, I know how much you miss the cold weather!
😀
It’s also kind of like that here y’know?
I know now, thank you! 🙂
Wonderful.
Thank you so much Rabirius!
The photo of the playground keeps drawing me back; it looks so forlorn. Also, it was great to see these shots after our day of 78 degrees today.
Wow, 78 degs! Hope the warm winter weather where you are isn’t drying up all the lovely recent rainfall.
It has completely negated all the rain we had in December. Not one drop in all of January. We’re back to square one.
I love these shots Patti but wow you did get so much less than us out on the Island 🙂

The second one is a beaut!!
Thank you Margie!
Is that the natural light?
Yes Bumba, all natural light (give or take the exposure setting which I can’t remember) and straight out of the camera.
Nice pictures!
I mist the most of it, I saw hardly any snow.
Kind regards,
Maybe next time for you Rob, thank you!
Timeless and uncanny – I so want to visit NY!
I keep telling you how much you would love it here, hope you do get to visit soon Richard!
Pretty ambitious of you to get out and walk around in that. So, another storm is on the way?
Thank you Julie, hard to describe how good it feels walking around any time let alone in that and yes, another storm on the way but sadly am out of town for the moment, hope I don’t miss a good one!
Looking at this series I got an intense feeling of oppressive loneliness.
The deafening silence of the third picture makes me shudder.
I’m so sorry Marcelo . . . the feeling at the time was one summer ghosts.

I love that you managed to put us right into the frame:the gray mist of the sky, yet the color is alive. Just like being there-terrific!
It emptied the streets nicely. I love these streets landscapes!
You can feel the hush! Lovely!
Love love love the second shot. Nicely done!!
That’s a lot of snow!!! Love the stark quietness in your images Patti.
Lovely quiet atmosphere and mood! I agree with Stacy, hauntingly beautiful. Love that playground shot!
It’s a mad, mad snow world!
No snowman on the streets? That’s the typical image we get here from movies and the like.
Wonderful images Patti. Please stay safe in all of this awful weather.
