Great photograph Patti……..so much to discover in the shadows…..the revealed pattern of the sidewalk, reflections, mysterious darker area on the left to be explored. Well done!
Thank you Lignum! I was lucky enough to chance upon it while on my way to pick up some laundry – exciting times in SF! As you say, that light is indeed so fleeting but such a thrill to stumble upon. Wishing you a relaxing weekend!
Your use of the light is excellent. But what really I like in this photo are the lines, horizontal, vertical and diagonal. They give a certain rhythm which makes the photo a great photo. Brava!

The Chai Cart? Are they selling food and if so, could it be a francise for oriental food, noodles or something? Or is it coffee. I think lately the word ‘chai’ has popped up here in Sydney as well. Yes, coffee perhaps.
In any case a great intriguing photo.
That’s the mood right there that I often seek out on sunny summer evenings. The best times to shoot for this are at that time of clear high pressure weather days or in the mornings when the sun has just come up and still appears low enough to the horizon to cast those long, deep, dark, contrasting shadows. Love it.
So much to like about this one. The delicate balance between light and dark in this one is great. Of course we’re drawn to the light portions first but with such a nice balance I find myself looking around at all the detail within the photograph. Excellent!
Wow, thank you so much Mark. I did think of shooting closer to the cart but the more I thought about it the more I thought I would lose the light if I fussed about too much. Hope this makes sense . . . . !
This B&W is a sure winner in my book!
Thanks for he love as well. Looking forward for more updates/pictures from your blog!
Cheers Patti! 🙂 – JR (RbjslimmFotolens)

A wonderful photo, Patti. Light like that is fleeting. I wonder if you chanced upon it or if you were waiting for it?

Chai is a spicy tea drink from India and well worth trying. Love to know what you make of it Gerard!

Patti, the back lighting seems to give it a wonderful cinematic feel! And I love the leading lines formed by the shadow patterns.
Thank you Madhu, it was so much fun to stumble upon the lines!

Excellent contrasty B&W Patti. The people look like it’s been a long day at the office and they’re glad to be going home.
