Scenes in the short space of time and place that is Union Square in the brilliant sunshine of an
October afternoon.
Wishing you all a wonderful week-end!
i love this time of year, the light is so different. days are getting shorter, the colour of the leaves. the only thing is that it takes too long before it is spring…
Thank you Lignum! The Shrtreimel was a big hit, others trying it on for size, taking phone shots etc, it is definitely a special occasion hat.
Back to Dougie Howser, yes, an autobiography already, I had no idea! I came across this line of people queuing around the corner (for hours!) in love and devotion for NPH. The above three are acting majors at an NYC campus who, together, are writing stage plays with the intention of taking them abroad. NPH recently appeared on Broadway in “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” which they saw three times. Now I understand why I couldn’t get tickets for the constant “Sold Out!” I hope these kids do well with what they want to do!
I really need to read before I post. I have a new cell phone and am struggling with that too. Yesterday I called a friend ‘Lizard’ instead of Liza. 😦 Isn’t technology a treat? But then again, can’t imagine how we lived before.
And there it is, New York as usual – nothing usual about it. That first shot is really daring, I think. It works. Who would think to take that one? It says so much. Happy weekend to you, Patti!
Thank you so much Lyn! Autumn hasn’t really kicked in down here yet but that first shot was the first scrubby approximation to autumn foliage yet. For me anyway. Soon it will be cool enough, until then . . . where would we be without the seasons rolling in as they do and as you so beautifully document from your part of the world?
I love these slices of life, Patti! Autumn seems to suit NY so well in your shots. I had no idea Neil Patrick Harris was so popular (only know him from The Smurfs)!
thank you for your Union Square series, Patti! You make me feel like I never left (and lost) Manhattan… – I would like to play with my friend there “Those were the days my friend…”:
Fab people shots as always. Though I have to admit that chihuahua is particularly intriguing. What does he see? A German shepherd? A hot dog stand? You just never know with chihuahuas.
Some wonderful Candids – a joy to see 🙂 My favourite is the young man listening to his music but I also loved the Krishna guy shielding his eyes from the sun 🙂
Fascinating observations .. everything happening there right before our eyes . Busy city life .. the frenzy … half the time I just don’t understand what it’s all about but can’t help stopping … & looking Lol
Looking forward to a day up in London myself next week .
Great pictures Patti .
I love all the hustle & bustle in the city and you captured it so well Patti 🙂
Thank you Joe! Is it crazy to suggest I find a sense of peace and calm in this hustle and bustle?
Colourful! Fine set, Patti.
Sometimes you have to let the colour do the talking, thank you Harrie!
Your urban autumn is definitely different than mine, Patti. I enjoy to see your kind of streets.
So different isn’t it Bente! There will be autumnal vistas to come, I think, but they are as yet a few degrees away.
i love this time of year, the light is so different. days are getting shorter, the colour of the leaves. the only thing is that it takes too long before it is spring…
That cosy time of the year for sure, thank you Inge!
All are so different and yet so similar.
Be happy!
Plus ça change . . . . et vive la différence!
Happy wishes in return to you Marcelo!
Glorious, Patti. Thank you!
Pierr, thank you so much!!!
What a wonderful cross section of life.
Love that cossack-style hat in photo 9, but I would not be seen dead wearing it. 🙂
Doogie Howser has an autobiography already???

The girl with the frizzy hair and lovely grey sweater (second from top) seems to know what she wants. A great shot .
Yes Gerard, a lovely grey sweater, not only second from top but also the only lovely grey sweater!
she’s not only a big-hair-girl…
Fantastic urban autumn shots, Patti. That last photo with the guy facing the camera does it for me. Great!
The friends we find in strangers, thank you Angeline!
So much going on! Suck a treat to be taken onto the streets of NYC with you.
Let me know MBL and more than happy to suck the treat of NYC streets with you!
Ready when you are! 😉
I really need to read before I post. I have a new cell phone and am struggling with that too. Yesterday I called a friend ‘Lizard’ instead of Liza. 😦 Isn’t technology a treat? But then again, can’t imagine how we lived before.
Magical…the way you capture little moments in time!
I keep hoping you might park your TinCan some where in the neighbourhood, thank you Annie!
To me ….you are New York.
xoxo

And you dear Lanier are too sweet, thank you so much indeed! 🙂
You are welcome dear Patti!

Funny thing is, we’d both have no problem – we would find plenty to interest us, seasons or not. 🙂
Like a mini-trip to NYC! Thank you.
But not as good as the real thing. That’s my attempt at enticement!
What a beautiful day! Great job capturing a slice of life from so many different folks
Thank you so much Mark and hope you are enjoying some sunshine days before the cold descends . . . .
Nice shots! Looks like it’s a good time to be in the city.
Thank you Arianna, always a good time to be in the city!
I love these slices of life, Patti! Autumn seems to suit NY so well in your shots. I had no idea Neil Patrick Harris was so popular (only know him from The Smurfs)!
Thank you Richard, am sure the proper pretty of autumn will hit the city soon enough and yes, NPH is one of those popular, multi-talented people . .!
Great street collection.
Thank you so much DW!
thank you for your Union Square series, Patti! You make me feel like I never left (and lost) Manhattan… – I would like to play with my friend there “Those were the days my friend…”:
You would be very much at home, thank you Frizz!
Absolutely wonderful!!!
Thank you so much Elena!
A humorous and honest group of portraits! What a great place nyc…
Something for everyone, thank you John!
Again, wonderful portraits of life.
The “Girls and Boys” picture is especially great – very well seen!
I am so touched, thank you Rabirius!
I do miss the city! I used to love the musicians in the subways and especially at Penn Station! This series of yours brings it all back!
You will have to come back soon, thank you Emilio!
you always bring some nice street scenes 🙂
Wonderful images Patti with your eye for the unusual and the every day life on the street….I just cannot get enough.
Fab people shots as always. Though I have to admit that chihuahua is particularly intriguing. What does he see? A German shepherd? A hot dog stand? You just never know with chihuahuas.
let me send a little video to you: I’m playing AUTUMN LEAVES on my guitar using my little VOX amp:
Some wonderful Candids – a joy to see 🙂 My favourite is the young man listening to his music but I also loved the Krishna guy shielding his eyes from the sun 🙂
Lovely. People photographs are the most difficult. At least for me! 🙂
Take care
Brian
Love how you ‘see’ things most would walk past! A wonderful collection Patti.
Wonderful captures Patti, I especially like the Girls and Boys one. 🙂 🙂
A cast of characters all captured in one space. A walk down memory lane.
