Here in Ausland it is a comfortable 11c but we are sick of rain. A stark shot Patti. You wonder what goes on in those tall buildings. I expect queuing around the bowsers. Still, better in LA than the UK where they are now so anxious about the vote in Scotland they are stocking up on Welsh rarebits.
Very nice B&W Patti – has an almost claustrophobic effect with everything crowding in on the camera. The buildings seem to reflect the textures of the palms.
No Cath, not melting but burning in that dry sizzle LA way that is so different from the heavy sweltering humidity here in NY. Not sure which one I prefer . . . Thank you Cath and trust you have enjoyed a pleasant summer in your lovely part of the world!
I do not miss this weather at all. Last Friday the weather was around 97. Then a quick dip the next day to 85 and that’s all she wrote. No more 100 degree days in the forecast till next year! But what a great shot. Really feels hot.
Are the Santa Ana winds blowing? That’s wildfire weather.
Not sure the Santa Ana winds are blowing yet but there are dreadful fires east of Sacramento, apparently started by an arsonist . . .

Now the Scots aren’t happy with each other . . . . Hope you get some sunshine soon Gerard, without it turning into a drought!
How much is it in Celsius? Patti this photo looks as if it was made of two images (left and right) – a really cool framing and composition
It converts to 39.4 C which somehow doesn’t sound as dramatic does it? Thank you Paula for kind words!
Kind of nostalgic. Makes me think of the 80’s TV show “LA Law”.
Maybe it’s all that 80’s music I keep hearing everywhere that is having a subliminal effect on what I shoot . . . . 😦 Help!
Good shot. The glare off the building makes it look even hotter.
Best not to look up, so I kept telling myself. Thank you Gaynor!
Excellent!
Thank you Robyn!
I love the black and white stuff!
That’s so kind of you, thank you EF!

Are you telling me you wouldn’t like to be there Martin? Can’t say I blame you, I was rushing to get out of the hot sun!
superb!
Thank you so much Peter!!
Absolutely brilliant shot, Patti! Very striking, original and memorable.
What happens when the heat gets to you! Thank you so much Richard!
What an eye you have!!!!!
A blind eye staring into the hot sun!!! Thank you so much sweet LFR!
Great composition. I really like the skyscraper against the palm trees.
Thank you Rabirius, the skyscraper is so lucky to have such companions!
Incredible…I felt the inferno emitting from your photo!
Thank you Annie, keep cool!
The angle is brilliant!
and I can almost feel the sweat coming from the heat… “Water, I need to drink some water. Be careful not to dehydrate”.
Thank you Cardinal for the cool talk, it was such a nasty burning heat and of course much worse out in the desert parts . . .
REALLY awesome shot Patti!
Thank you so much Margie, not so scorching in your wonderful part of the world!
More brilliant processing. I swear those palm trees look like Legos…
Now that you mention looking like Legos . . . . yes!
Ouch! That’s looks positively stinking hot!
A real scorcher!
Now that is hot but for people like me in Canada I’ll take these hot days over our dark cold winters anyday.
But would you enjoy forever summer?
Honestly I would relish it. Hot year round would be fine by me.
Fantastic pov and processing! I can feel the heat!
There was more than enough heat to go round, thank you Susan!
Everything looks scorched, which I guess is how you saw it, too.
That dry, lazy midday sun . . . . !
Intense. I can feel it.
A real retro look to these, too. Amazing how the weather varies from blog to blog. Just read about an early snow.
Gosh, snow already . . .
I can FEEL the heat!
Feeling cooler now, I hope!
maybe you need some holidays in Alaska, Scotland or Iceland?
Winter will come soon enough thank you Frizz!
Such a dramatic shot, and such a visual paradox too – to capture the burning heat in black and white.
Thank you Tish, aiming to capture the view, and the heat, from behind my very dark sunglasses!
You did it so well 🙂
Wow, love these mercurial glistening blacks – were you melting?!

I can feel the heat. Taken in LA, but I’m getting a Crockett and Tubbs Miami vibe. 🙂
I think the spirit of Crockett and Tubbs, now retired, is alive and well here in the streets of downtown LA!
I agree with Lignum here, I can just feel that scorching heat! Wonderfully dramatic perspective and stunning light!
oops, guess I commented twice…just had to come back for more! 🙂
Thank you Susan, always lovely to hear from you!!!

Emilio, I hear the temps in LA have crept up again since then . . . hope it’s keeping cooler where you are!
bright and beautiful 🙂
Thank you kindly Joshi!
WOW you really get a sense of how hot it was in your image. Wonderful shot Patti 🙂
Everything but the camel! Thank you Joe!
🙂
And I thought I lived in a furnace!! We rarely touch 40 Celsius in September. A very dramatic capture Patti!
Almost happier not to know the temp, thank you Madhu!
Amazing
I’ve never been in L.A. I’ve never been to U.S.A – but hopefully one day…
Lovely image, wonderful light! Very dreamlike!
Thank you so much Malin and hope you get to enjoy US/LA one day – I can’t believe how much I enjoy LA, particularly downtown.
