The Real Deal
Who needs Breakfast at Tiffany's when you can enjoy the midnight Real Deal on 42nd Street!
Tonight the NY Rangers hopes of winning the Stanley Cup against the LA Kings either die or
get to live another day - I'm talking ice hockey, while bars all over town are playing host
to World Cup celebrations or commiserations.
And just when I thought I had more than a few bases covered I received notice from the informative
aficionados at Gothamist (where would I be without them?) of another upcoming event tonight -
The World Naked Bike Ride.
Meanwhile the skies have opened up and are tipping out rain, thunder and lightening.
Will this dampen spirits or revive and refresh them after the heat of the day? I'm about
to go and find out!
Wishing everyone a wonderful week-end!

I am pleased to see the city that never sleeps is living up to its reputation. I can smell the flintiness coming off the wet tarmac as I read your post.
Not the same without you Zita!
Hi Patti, if it weren’t bad enough with the weather, the local sports bar is bombarding patrons with World Cup, hockey and the three local baseball teams. I’m mildly ADD but that would drive me nuts. Got released by my physical therapist today. Hopefully going to be able to start yoga classes tomorrow at 11 a.m. Have a good week-end.
Tom, hope you enjoyed the yoga class – it should be so good for you! With you on the crowded bar front, particularly when so many of them have cover charges just to get in and be part of the noisy crowd. On the other hand, I have had fun times in other quieter local bars where the crowd builds up its own decent momentum. Enjoy your week-end Tom!
Right now, in Canada, FIFA is actually beating out the NHL.
I can understand that!
Nice shot Patti. Over here we have Harry’s cafe de wheels – an iconic pie selling cart. Aussies like their pies.
Looking forward to your bike ride photos. 🙂
And we all know a little pie goes a long way. Wishing you happy times at Harry’s Lignum!
Sadly / gladly no naked bike ride photos
Go Rangers!!!
Next year!
Great game! have a good day.
At least they preserved some dignity by going into overtime . . . and a great day to you Mark!
And the Yankees won their fourth in a row on the West Coast. Looking forward to pics of the World Naked Bike Ride!
Well done Yankees and on with the summer! So far the nearest (Ie absolute) to naked in my archives is one George Davis for San Francisco District 6 but will keep you posted on the naked bike ride – it might take some time!
Hopefully plenty of people in New Amsterdam were celebrating the Dutch triumph! 🙂 The celebrations here certainly went on long into the night.
Didn’t the Dutch do well and yes, I did hear reports of jubilant celebrations along with commiserations from disappointed Spain fans 🙂 😦
I know the England fans were particularly pleased at the outcome of the match. Still, early days for all!
Good one Patti…….and we love the Gothamist ++++++
What’s not to love about the highly opinionated Gothamist! (?)
A perfect shot for a wonderful weekend, Patti. You’ll shoot some great new pictures for sure 🙂
Happy shooting and week-end joys to you Anette!
The two street lights in the middle of the picture look like eyes. I wonder what the scene looked like from that angle.
Wow, to see from those eyes!
Beautiful atmospheric shot – love that slice of light coming from further down the street.
Late night Manhattanhenge, when gold turns to blue.
(I made that up!)
Love it!
(I’m impressed)
powerful shot, Patti, nice catch: the spot, the moment. way to go.
Lovely to hear from you Tommy, thank you so much and looking forward to getting downtown soon for one of your nights!
hi Patti,
your Manhattan reports are even more interesting than the songs of Van Morrison! Nevertheless: thanks for your link to
Seriously Frizz, I could post links to Van Morrison songs forever and now I send you Glad Tidings from New York!

I had my hands full but I have to believe the frostees were great! Next time!
What a gorgeous glimpses you give of your amazing city Patti! Your playfulness reminds me so much of Theadora Brack. Perhaps I’m repeating myself. But there it is.Thank you!
Thank you Philippa and thrilled to be in company as good as the delightful Ms Brack’s!
What’s a frostee?
Another name for an ice-cream!
i want to try that 😉
🙂
Yeah, what’s a frostee? Whatever it is, it sounds like something I would stay up to experience 🙂 Fab shot Patti.
In the city that never sleeps it’s frostee (Ice-cream) time, summer in the city. Thank you Madhu!
I feel like I am in line, excitedly waiting for my turn at ordering! Vibrant and wonderful!
And in the virtual world we can pick the flavour of our dreams! Thank you Elena!
No matter how delightful your photo of Mr. Frostee might be, there are those of us who would appreciate a shot or two of The World Naked Bike Ride! Just sayin’!
Maybe next time Emilio!
