I never look as cool as her in heat :D. What is in her cart? My eye keeps wandering in that direction…. Patti, I love the composition with reflections and passers-by absorbed in their own thoughts and doings.
I’m sure you have your own cool Paula! The cart is one of the famous NYC shopping carts which come in either red or blue and used for anything from carting around groceries, laundry, pets, you name it. She had shopping in hers. Thank you Paula for your kind words!
The cart is the star and the stories they could tell! I was once upon a time the proud owner of a shiny red one but now we live on the top floor of a 5th floor walk-up, one of us had to go . . . .
Sunworshiping – it seems impossible that the sun would ever warm peoples lives again, after that winter – but here it is, and isn’t this girl luxuriating in the feeling of that warmth on her skin. 🙂
Winter, such as it is, is catching up with me at last Patti – one part excitement at the novelty, the other … over-reacting about the cold! Perhaps that’s why I felt the sun your subject was enjoying so much 🙂
This is really cool, Patti and perfect with the title: “Summer in the city.” You have an eye for the right moment, the mood and the composition in Street Photography with lots of small details like the window reflection. Great captured!
Enjoy the summer and have a great whitsun weekend.
Stefan
Thank you so much Angeline! This was the pose of the moment. It is difficult to translate the actual mechanics, and one I hope to explore another time, but there are times of mutual consent between the camera and the subject and I am so grateful this one of those times.
What I love is that you captured her so in her space. Very NY! And there is no sign of you the photographer anywhere in the frame. You are invisible. Brilliant.
I like the multi level vision in this shot: the lady with the cart (hmm, an ice block? it would be marvellous) , the gentleman immersed in his own things, the couple, the reflections. Great shot Patti!
robert
Funny isn’t it that we are looking so longingly at the “ice” after that long cold winter. Thank you Robert for your very kind words and hope you get back to enjoy another layer of NYC soon!
A great photo. I just love how you play with space and so many different levels through the reflections. And then her posture and expression is indeed very cool.
Otto, I have to tell you, they were all there in the frame and I just happened to come along. I was so grateful for the opportunity as indeed I am for your kind words.
Thank you Cardinal, would you believe it if I told you that was a quieter moment? Just a little down the block it was NYPD with full armour, heavy guns, dogs and armored vans. Who knows what for?
I’ll bet she was pleased to be photographed. After all, someone was taking in all that work she put into looking like that.
Concrete city … heating up!!!
She is Essential Cool! Get the nail treatment —
And (like others said) fabulous composition. All these folks, reflecting or not, all doing their own thing, even letting the photographer be to do her own thing —

I kept looking at that cart too. My wife and I went through a couple that looked just like that one. We mashed them up!
The cart is the star and the stories they could tell! I was once upon a time the proud owner of a shiny red one but now we live on the top floor of a 5th floor walk-up, one of us had to go . . . .
Love it. Capturing summer rapture.
Thank you Tom, you keep cool and wishing you all the best of summer’s rapture!
Great Picture Patti!
My thanks to you Peter!
Looks like huge blocks of ice in that cart! Wonderful shot.
Thank you Pierr, I love your idea of ice in the cart!
summertime… and the livin’ is easy…
Isn’t it just, a tune all of its own . . .. Wishing you happy summer Derrick!
thanks my dear!! same to you!!
Great photo and thank you for the gift of your art. Texting is doing well in NYC.
You are way too kind, thank you Gerard and yes, difficult at times to take a shot where someone isn’t connected to something . . .
Sunworshiping – it seems impossible that the sun would ever warm peoples lives again, after that winter – but here it is, and isn’t this girl luxuriating in the feeling of that warmth on her skin. 🙂
Such are the joys of the seasons, where would we be without them? Hope all fine with you where you are Meredith! 🙂

Thank you Stefan and I do hope you enjoyed the best of Whitsun which is such a magical time of year! Spring reflections for warm days ahead!
Did she pose for you, or did you catch the moment? Great street photography!
Thank you so much Angeline! This was the pose of the moment. It is difficult to translate the actual mechanics, and one I hope to explore another time, but there are times of mutual consent between the camera and the subject and I am so grateful this one of those times.
Fabulous colours. She wears them well! Great capture, P. x
And absolutely nothing old fashioned about any of the colours she wears so well, thank you Gaynor!
Brilliant shot Patti. She does look too cool for …whatever. 🙂
That whatever should be so lucky! Thank you Lignum!
A wonderful distillation of attitude. Gorgeous shot, Patti – I love all the visual echoes – so rich!
A little attitude goes such a long way . . . thank you so much Richard!
What I love is that you captured her so in her space. Very NY! And there is no sign of you the photographer anywhere in the frame. You are invisible. Brilliant.
That space will forever be hers!
(As to the photographer in boring black, so happy to remain always invisible!)
She’s chiiling out to whatever music is on her phone – Good catch Patti and excellent composition!
So thrilled she shared the chill!
Great composition. And the main figure is fantastically stylish…
Thank you Alessandro, it was indeed a pleasure to enjoy such style!
Indeed! What a fantastic moment, Patti!
For which I shall forever be grateful, thank you so much Anette!
I wonder if she was watching you through her sunglasses.
We did meet but whether she was watching me, in my own pair of sunglasses, I’m not sure sure. Safe to say it was a mutual moment?
Summer sun and great music….I can feel her joy! Fab capture and title Patti.
Summer has a soundtrack all of its own doesn’t it Madhu!
Not here Patti….we are wilting under 43C temperatures. Delhi touched 45C the other day!!
Ah, catch that breeze:) Great Pattie!
What’s not to love about a sweet summer breeze, and it’s not even officially summer yet is it? Thank you Elena!
I like the multi level vision in this shot: the lady with the cart (hmm, an ice block? it would be marvellous) , the gentleman immersed in his own things, the couple, the reflections. Great shot Patti!

Fantastic. From the pink bows to the nails, to the colours in her dress, she’s got it! 🙂
She has it in spades! Thank you so much Cath!
OH YEAH! 🙂 🙂
And thank you Lyn!
So very cool!
So cool she’s emanating the heat for everyone else 🙂
It’s that time of year! Thank you Geoff, and love your new website which come with all the great shots you do so well!
Thanks Patti (on both counts!) and it’s always a pleasure to have you drop by 🙂
Thank you Frizz for adding to the atmosphere, summer in the city indeed!
A great photo. I just love how you play with space and so many different levels through the reflections. And then her posture and expression is indeed very cool.

Great capture Patti. There’s so much happening in the photo.
And she makes it look so effortless. Thank you Isadora!

Thank you Judith, some people just have that cool!
wow! all that busy-ness going on in the big city and you find a person paused and poised in bliss and in tune with her surroundings!
that is really cool 🙂
Cool capture yo
