Thank you Rabirius! This shot was taken during a change to my usual routine and I remember looking out this window with longing to be outside and on the streets. An interesting time plus we can’t be in two places at once so making the most of it!
Patti, this is wonderful. If I can I’d like to hold on to it for a while and let a story come out of it. I’ve wanted to write a noir story but have had difficulty because of my normally sunny personality.
That’s very kind of you to say, thank you Paula! The dirty window limited the view, as indeed they tend to do, so finding the angle, and a cleannish spot, was a challenge . . .
Now that’s a lovely shot
That’s very kind, thank you serial photographer!
Hard light makes hard shadows; wonderful shot, Patti!
Somewhere to hide in the bright light of day, thank you so much Harrie!
Very different from your street shots – but I also like it very well – especially because of the dark and light parts.
Yes, excellent contrast, and your darkened sky. Did you use a red filter or was the image post processed digitally?
Thank you Allan! I took this shot with my iPhone so no red filter and yes, some tidying up in Lightroom.

I like the lines.
and somehow they all fit together. Thank you so much Antonia!
Wonderful use of shapes, lines and tones.
Thank you David, it is certainly an interesting part of town!

Tom, I should hate to get in the way of your sunny disposition but if this helps your story come out, please, you are welcome to the dark side!
The Art Deco cheese grater? I love the juxtaposition of shapes that you have brought to the fore by choosing black and white
Thank you dear Zita, the choice was elementary!
So strong graphic. Great composition, Patti.
I’m sure someone had fun designing the building and putting it in this location, thank you Bente!
plays tricks with your eyes…
Not a building for counting the windows! Thank you Inge!
Reminds me somewhat of the Dutch artist M C Escher. Good photo.
Perhaps he was an inspiration . . .. thank you Gerard!
Very film noir. Batman would not be out of place here.
A very Gotham part of the city indeed Lignum!
mmmm I’m digging it. would be pretty boring in color but oh so not boring in BW. Glad to see you back!!
Thank you Derrick and happy to be back!
Rested and ready to roll I see!! 🙂
Very 60s television. Reminds me of the opening credits of MadMen. Nice!
Not forgetting the original mad man, Maxwell Smart, and those gorgeous two from U.N.C.L.E!
Light and shade – the very essence of photography 🙂 Nice one Patti!
Where would we be without it? Thank you Martin!!
A perfect place to shoot the sequel to Metropolis.
Yes! Absolutely Marcelo!

Shawn, so much more I wanted to say . . . thank you for your kind words!
Interesting! I’ve never seen a building with that kind of pattern.
Wouldn’t you just love it in a jigsaw!
Now, that is class! Fantastic shot, Patti – haunted by the weary ghosts of late Capitalism.
Oh Richard, so many ghosts . . . . .
I’m imagining those buildings squinting into the sun. Another great shot, Patti.
The full glare, east and west . . . . thank you Charles!
Brilliant image Patti!
Thank you so much Robyn!
The words work so well with this image Patti.
So many secrets down there Margie, in that Naked City . . .
Wonderful composition, Patti! It’s an interesting mix of photography and graphic, very nice.
Thank you so much Anette!
Lovely little poem and great graphic shot!
Thank you Elena!
I like Harrie’s comment. You’ve made it happen with really harsh light.
Always fun to explore the different possibilities and thank you so much John for your positive feedback.
very professional, classic black and white work, in the tradition of American photography, congrats!
The beehive/honeycomb building is like your description elsewhere of a New Yorker page —
Really strong. Classic for sure. And your accompany thoughts on the honeycomb? Perfection!
Very retro feel to this. Love it.
An excellent composition, Patti. For some reason I think of a giant beehive…
The honeycomb stack does feel sixtyish! Fab capture Patti and perfectly described 🙂
Wonderful B&W work. I have a similar photo that I shot in Israel. I’ll post it soon (if I’ll remember).
Thank you Cardinal and look forward to seeing your shot. I love your views of Israel!
Perfectly crafted behind the camera and keyboard!
That’s very kind of you to say, thank you Paula! The dirty window limited the view, as indeed they tend to do, so finding the angle, and a cleannish spot, was a challenge . . .
