Spring Break Out!

Natalie’s 1st Birthday – a parade just for her!

Spring greetings from Mad Hatter's paradise!
Easter Sunday Parade along 5th Ave, NYC - warm in the sun, cool in the shade, a perfect spring day
to break out of the long winter blues and celebrate with hats, flowers, ribbons, bows, butterflies
whatever!
It was a fun few hours of hustle, bustle and goodwill jostling for angles etc at which point it was
simply easier to let go and go with the flow, whatever the angle.
A big, big thank you to everyone for kind words and best wishes during my recent time-out. Back in
the blog-saddle now and so looking forward to catching up with you all!

Great post Patti, full of happy smiling faces and superb photos.
Thank you so much David and always so inspiring to see the effort people make. Some of the more outré costumes etc I have saved up for another time!
What a wonderful tradition. I like the fantasy to delight us and themselves.
New Yorkers do love their traditions – I have decided this is the springtime version of Halloween. So pleased you enjoyed and thank you Antonia!
Good to have you back, Patti; with a joyful post. See you!
And lovely to see you again, thank you so much Harrie!
Wow. You got yourself right in amongst it as usual. Pups on parade and the flamingoes top my bill!
You know it’s bad when even the costumed pups make you feel dowdy and drab . . . but what the heck! Lots to look fwd to on your travels, soon!!!
Patti, your countryman Lewis Carroll gave me an appreciation of the Mad Hatter. You’ve just pushed it over the top. Thanks, luv ya.

What a charmer you are, thank you so much Gerard! Enjoy the snap, crackle & crunch of autumn where you are!
What a wonderful day this looks to have been……..all the color, and no snow!
Good to see you back, Patti.

After that winter, it’s fantastic to see Spring break through the pavements of the city in such exuberance! Glad you’re feeling refreshed Patti, you’ve been missed. 🙂
Oh thank you Meredith and lovely to hear from you!! What happens when New Yorkers bust out of their heavy black coats!
Great to see your wonderful images again Patti. All stunners!
Thank you Burgess, the stunners gave their all!
Such fun! You really succeed in catching the joy and expectation in these people. I would have loved to be there, meeting the two flamingo-women and the bunny-men. Nice to see your photos again.
Costumed or not it is such a fun day for everyone and hope you get to come and enjoy one day! Thank you so much Nina!

robert
Robert, you would have loved it! Perhaps next time you are in NYC?
Maybe!
robert 🙂
Yay! Glad you’re back! I thought the dog with the grips in his hair might be my favorite, but then I saw the flamingo hats, and obviously those won me over. 🙂
Don’t you just want one of those fabulous hats!?!
Little girl, Big smile…..priceless! Welcome back, Patti!
She was definitely one of the dazzlers! Thank you ever so much Annie!

That’s so kind of you to say, thank you Richard! It’s certainly that time of the year when colour is making a blazing return to the streets.
ditto above – think we may have all missed your images and posts,
so full of life – in so many extraordinary ways !
Thank you so much Veronica! Always fun to see the extraordinary ideas people come up with, and these are some of the more sedate outfits!
I could write a sonnet, about your Easter bonnet … (but I won’t) 🙂
Welcome back Patti. We don’t have the tradition of Easter parades here, but this looks like a “mad” event. Thanks for bringing it to us.
Thank you dear Lignum for the sonnet-to-be! 🙂 It’s such a lovely tradition after the long winter. Do hope your Easter was fun!
These are super duper Patti! Ah, NY, no place like it. Thanks for bringing it to us all! Margie

so many cuties 🙂
Spring brings them out!
You have made a welcome come-back Patti! Much to our delight. Great to see you and all your New Yorkers and fans.
You are so kind, thank you Philippa and great to catch up with you!
I used to love to go to the Easter Parade. My girls were dressed is their Spring finery and I always had a hat that was
put together with great artistry. I have many wonderful memories of the experinces we all had as a family. ❤
As I viewed the photos I would pick one to comment on (like the 1st one – priceless) but they all have something
I could say about them. I'll just say – MAGNIFICO !!!
XD
Issy, you must have some gorgeous photos tucked away!
Great to see New Yorkers in celebration.
They do it so well don’t they Carl!
Wonderful. I especially like the flamingoes.
They certainly cut a swathe through the crowd. Thank you Rabirius!
I am happy to see you back Patti 🙂 We took a break at about the same time. These smiles are contagious. I enjoyed your walk!
Hope your break was all you wanted it to be Paula and so lovely to see you back!
Hello Patti 🙂 My break from blog included a lot of overtime work (not something I chose), but after that I spent five days exploring London and some places nearby 😉 It feels good to be back, though I am not fully committed to blogging as yet.
You do what you have to . . . Do hope you are now on top of the situation and that London was a decent break. I haven’t quite got my blogging skates on either but if we all take our time that can only be a good thing, sit back relax and enjoy the process rather than make a chore of it. So I keep telling myself!
🙂 it would be the end of the world if we start taking blogging as a chore.
What a delightful gallery Patti! ‘Baby Face’ is my absolute favourite 🙂
Thank you Madhu. What a sweet pooch that Baby Face was, so many of the pets here have such a pampered existence!

Carl, I don’t know what to do . . . . 😦
You are the only person I know for whom New York is a perpetual festival! And I’m glad you’re back in festival mode —
I didn’t know you were taking a time out, as I was on a time out myself. I think it’s happened to a lot of us bloggers, running out of steam and battered by weather and other assorted ills —
The French have a phrase for it, Reculer pour mieux sauter. I really like that, the idea of taking a few steps backward in order to better leap forward again —
Or maybe you prefer Make haste slowly. Taking our time, as you wisely suggest. Live long and prosper, Sister!
Brilliant pictures. Of course the “subjects” have this uncanny American “je ne sais quoi” to be able to go out in the street with any kind of accessory without falling into ridicule. (And enjoy themselves thoroughly!)
Thank you. And have a lovely week-end. 🙂
