Taking 5 . . .
. . . . and maybe just a little more.
I have never before done an official blog break - I have aimlessly wandered off the blogging
reservation more than a few times in the past but this time I am going seriously wire-less,
leaving the laptop and the digital camera at home.
Instead, I am packing books, (remember library books?) and my back copies of The New Yorker, the
magazine which comes once a week full to the brim of so many tiny black words crowded on the page. We
refer to this magazine as the one "without the pictures" while the New York Magazine is a little/lot
less demanding with its full spread of glossy pics and enough words to pad out the sense of dialogue
and conversation.
I shall take my iPhone, and maybe a few shots with it along the way, but I am also taking my old
Nikon and a few rolls of film which may or may not see the light of day . . .
Photography is all about chasing the light but for now I am content to embrace lights out, sleep a
little, sleep a lot!

Patti, I’m going to miss you more than you can believe. Your pictures are a window for me. The New Yorker is a necessity for me. god watch oover you while you wander. Get back wired soon. Missing you already.
Used to subscribe to New Yorker. It has the best cartoons and cartoonists in the world. Tried to get published for decades. They have a site for rejected cartoons and the quality of even these are very superior. Poor mag, though. Just a mere shadow of its old self. Same with TIME. Enjoy your hiatus.
Well, I do hope the few rolls of film will get some light and that the images will ‘eventually’ come to the fore. I’ll miss your lovely art for now but not for long. (I hope)

Enjoy the break – it is good to untether now and then – today I pulled out a box full of photo books from the basement to re-read and many boxes of old film negatives to scan :>)

I will miss you, and your take on the city. I have been feeling some of the same feelings…perhaps why I posted such an atrocious photo this week :(. The unemployment thing and giving up studio space has taken a toll and I have been feeling an inordinate amount of the blues. Maybe it is time to take a break and regroup. I wish you well recharging, reading, meditating, relaxing, enjoying. I hope you will be in the city for the opening of Bryant Park…my memory of our blog ‘meeting’-
Reinvigorate – creative folks need to stop holding their breath every once in awhile. Enjoy, relax and rest. New imagery will flood from a peaceful place when you’re ready to reopen the gates.
