Thank you Lignum! I still feel a little on the outside with Thanksgiving in that I am not fussed about planning, cooking, visitors but I do appreciate the thought behind the day.
Was there some kind of disturbance? The man on the right with a cap on, a policeman? I am fascinated by the ‘voice’ sign on the rubbish bin. What does it mean? The large man in the front keeps following me around the room and seems to be a bit suspicious. He could be a secret service agent. Great shot and the sign on the building of a man holding a gun and yet that casually dressed group on the left with the girl with a dress on seems to indicate NY is still not very cold.
There is a lot there.
Gerard, you are right, there was a disturbance. I found the photo in my archives, where I had forgotten all about it. It was taken early last year, outside Sotheby’s before one of the big auctions took place. At the time Sotheby’s was picketed by staff who had walked out months earlier, protestors gathered, the NYPD put up barricades etc and several arrests were made while potential buyers and interested parties made their way through to the entrance.
The Voice is a newspaper, as in the Village Voice, which is available from those boxes on the footpath! It was an interesting evening!
Thank you Paula! Somehow the camera and lens came together to do all the work, in color which I converted to B&W. And yes, I did change the theme, not too different but more central and with a more easily navigated home page. So pleased you like it, thank you again!
Certainly! An ongoing challenge in my life. How to be hands free – not there yet though and I do feel less secure without my camera around. You just never know when you going to need it – or a tissue for an eight year old’s runny nose, etc, etc….
Derrick, I would love to say “yes, I set it up!” which might imply a certain level of artistic intent and skill etc etc but no, it all just happened. I was annoyed at how slow and sludgy I was with my settings that night. Thank you so much for the awesome!
I haven’t been back since around 1998. Once we sold our home on Long Island, we never went back. I have a daughter who lives in upstate New York ( about I hour from Manhattan). It’s on my bucket list to visit her and go to Manhattan once again.
Excuse me but fuckin’ brilliant.

Cool image.
It’s the look! Don’t you wish we could sometimes hang around with our hands in our pockets instead of carting around great big hand bags?
Certainly! An ongoing challenge in my life. How to be hands free – not there yet though and I do feel less secure without my camera around. You just never know when you going to need it – or a tissue for an eight year old’s runny nose, etc, etc….
Well done Patti. Very cool effect!
Thank you Beth, the effect is all his, straight through the camera!
hi Patti,
could be a book cover for a crime story … or a movie poster!
Interesting possibilities . . . .

Thank you Cardinal, it was one of those evenings!
He calls for a moment of attention amidst the indifferent passing of time.
However fleeting that moment of attention . . .
did you set that up, or did it just happen??? Either way…. awesome!
