Early in the morning
Early in the morning I can't do right had a little fight with my baby last night and I 'aint got nothing but the blues . . . I went to Dooky Chase to get something to eat the waitress looked at me she said "Harry you sure look beat" Yeah, it's early in the morning . . . Coney Island early in the morning, no gentle sunrise but with a little Nilsson Schmilsson, it's always a pleasure to walk in Harry's company.
I like a Little Schmilson In The Night
The ideal companion!
I didn’t know the artist.
Nice song Patti, thank you for share both things, the pic and the song.
🙂
HG, I hope you enjoy getting to know Harry Nilsson. Well worth the effort!
A brief introduction for you –
Thank you very much Patty
I,m going to search something more about him
🙂
Dear Harry. “I’m gonna go where the weather suits my clothes.” Always liked him, and I always loved ‘Without You’…
Gaynor, have you seen the film? I don’t think I was only one there with a little lump bobbing up in down in the throat . . . . not to mention how much I want to scream whenever I hear Mariah Carey murder “Without You” . . .. .
No, haven’t seen the film, but thankfully haven’t heard Mariah sing ‘Without You’, either. Checked ebay, but no copies in Region 4. It’s a bit exxy through the online ABC Shop, but if I don’t turn it up anywhere else, at least I know it’s available there. Looks good.
Do you have Netflix? You might find it there . .. .
due to copyright problems the song EARLY IN THE MORNING was blocked but I could listen to this one:
We never thought it would end!
Aw, Harry…wonderful shot, Patti!
Aw, Harry for sure!!! You said it all, thank you Richard!
Wonderful shot Patti. Did you ask that bloke with that artwork printed on the back of his shirt the same as on the wall to walk past it? Or was it sheer coincidence?
Thank you Gerard – I am trying to think how that conversation might go! Honestly, it was sheer co-incidence which only revealed itself well after the fact, the fact that we were both sleepwalking around Coney Island!
Nice combo Patti 🙂
Thank you Paula! Harry Nilsson, a New Yorker, wrote so many songs which catch the different moods of the city so well.
This picture speaks for itself. Really nice, Patti.
Thank you so much Anette!
Early in the morning? The question is up late or up early? Regardless, lovely capture. You timed it well with the line of the mural leading right to that man.
What happens in a night when you can’t sleep . . . . give up, get on a train and go out to Coney Island! A few steps later and that would be me, maybe in someone else’s frame!
Your Street scenes are the best.
Wow, thank you Tex!
nice 🙂
Thank you Joshi!
The bluish tone enhances the sense of loneliness and loss of this picture.
I am sure that the man is humming :I ‘aint got nothing but the blues…
It was such a bluish morning! I went out there for sunrise shots but the sun wasn’t going to shine that morning although I did get a marriage proposal! It was a good morning for the blues all round . . .
A fine image with a little Harry, can’t possibly go wrong:)
Thank you Elena, Harry is always such fine company!
Perfect combo Patti! Margie
Thank you Margie, Harry tapped it every time!
and what, Patti, are YOU doing on the 9/11 anniversary?
Beautiful day here in NYC, very warm, very emotional but so much good cheer. More later and hope all well with you Frizz!
The same artwork? How serendipitous Patti!! 🙂 New to Nillsson too, but I think I am already a fan! Thank you.
Sometimes I think we take pictures to see what we didn’t see at the time . . . .
So good to hear you are enjoying Harry Madhu, never too late for a little Nilsson!
That early morning light: so rich. The setting is a story. You’ve worked magic again, Patti!
It was so rich and heavy that morning Annie . . .
Wonderful image Patti and I am so glad you have posted the videos now I am hooked……time to discover more about “the Harry”
Thank you James and I hope you enjoy Harry and all his moods!
You are more than welcome Patti and I am sure I will. Thanks again!
Lovely combo of words/music together with your image of that now classic Os Gemeos wall !
Thank you Pat – and thank you so much for the info on the wall!
(Does this pic therefore qualify as one of those . . . . . cliched street shots? 😦 )
Hardly – it would only be cliche if there were a couple of tourists standing in front of it taking a picture of themselves with their cell phones :>)
Your subject blends in with it – his shirt echoes the colors wonderfully ….
With their cell phones doing those irritating facebook finger and hand poses!
raw… nice shot!! Was he bumbling and stumbling?? LOL, looks like it was a long night!
We were both bumbling and stumbling, and yes, it was a long night before I finally threw in my sleepless towel!
What a great combination!
Made for each other! Thank you Cath!
