What’s Going On?
"What's going on?" she asked me, this sweet woman down in Union Square the other day. I mentioned something about a street performance that a crowd had gathered to watch. She seemed almost sorry to have missed it but happy enough for me to take her photo. Where once upon a time she might have worn flowers in her hair . . . * * * * *
wonderful interaction with your subject ;>) !!
Thank you Pat!
Wonderful. Computer woes nearly over. Please keep shooting. Every picture tells a story.
Good to hear you have almost sorted through the computer woes Tom! Thank you for encouraging kind words!
Is nice shot Patti 🙂
I love her candid eyes looking at your camera
even if she wore some flowers in her hair, she would be beautiful
Thank you HG, she sure has style. She was lovely 🙂
X
Thank you Cath!
Maybe she was getting her hair ready for flowers.
Brilliant! No reason not to!
this picture makes me laugh!! LOL!!
You just know you can’t wait to visit this great city!
This expression is priceless 🙂
Thank you Paula, isn’t she great!
Hehe, great photo! Brings out her personality.
And what a personality! Thank you Cardinal!
One wonders why she out without her hair being done. Great interaction.
Perhaps she was multi-tasking, thank you Lignum Draco!
Wonderful portrait, Patti! You captured her sense of fun beautifully (and the moment of calm in a rush of activity).
Thank you Richard, she was just happy to let it all happen around her!
The two young prof’s with their phones are a funny counterpoint, aren’t they?
They are indeed Lyn! I couldn’t believe how it worked out!
What a precious sweetheart you’ve captured there. Oh, to sit with her and hear her stories! Your candid photo leaves me yearning for more!
Maybe next time! Thank you Annie!
I like the thought that she was ‘having her hair done’ in order to go someplace much more important than where she was when you took the picture!
I should have made polite inquiries but I share your thought!
Great capture Patti. The inquiring look and those curlers….superb. 🙂
Thank you so much David! She’s a natural!
I get the feeling from the photograph that when she asked what was going on, she was talking about more than just the moment. Another great shot, Patti.
I did have to stop and think about her question before answering – I went with the street performance. Thank you so much Charles!
hi Patti,
you made me smile with:
“…once upon a time
she might have worn
flowers in her hair . . . ”
Thank you Frizz! Flowers or curlers, she is wearing her own hat with pride!
I very much admire your ability to talk with people you’ve never met before (I seem to be far to ‘shy’ to try it)… and then capture their spirit so well. A beautiful portrait (and story), Patti!
Thank you SiG for your very kind words! I have the kindness of New Yorkers to thank for talking to me SiG without whom, as a stranger in a strange land, I wouldn’t have anyone else to talk to in a day! Unless asking for a “tall iced caramel macchiatto, please”
counts as regular conversation! 🙂
Maybe she still does – wonderful portrait Patti 🙂
PS – I don’t talk to people… They might answer me !!! 😉
Perhaps we should all wear a flower or two in our hair!
I look forward to the day you break the habit of a lifetime and talk to someone out there!
This image is alive! Patti, there is life energy in your work!
Oh Elena if only you knew how dopey I was feeling that day . . . Thank you so much!
She could have plain forgotten!!! The way I am going, won’t be long before i walk out of my house in a similar state!!
(No I don’t use curlers :-D)
To tell you the truth Madhu, I didn’t really notice the curlers at first but she was so intent on knowing what was going on while happy enough after that for me to take her photo. And yes, I know exactly what you mean about the fact that maybe it could be you because it so easily could be me. What I love is that she is out and about, in her part of the world!
What a great shot!! It’s LOL! 🙂
Don’t you just love her to bits? Thank you PinkyBinks!
Yes!!!
The photos you manage to snap woman! I cannot remember the last time I saw a head full of rollers and a hairnet. Awesome capture Patti! Margie
Only in New York Margie, only in New York!!!!
Great street shoot.
