A thoroughly original title "Summer in the City" NYC but as of the other day - June 21st, it is now official! The last warm, balmy days of spring were but a sweet tease before the heat of summer swaggered through the change of season with the announcement that "summer is here and I am hot!" Yet so many ways to keep it cool! (Last shot a
littlelot . . . on the blurry side but the thought will have to count and the thought is super cute!). Keep cool and happy summer everyone!
Yes, I bet it’s already plenty hot in the city, and you’re back on the job at Union Square! Nice! (She IS cute – that dress!)
Certainly a change from the milder UK weather – we are expecting 92 degs today but we are so lucky to have these cool, shady green patches to enjoy. Am sure it is lovely and cool where you are!
It is – summer’s spectacular here. But let’s talk about the weather six months from now….we may both be miserable!
Lazy hazy summer. Send some here. Pelting rain and a brrr …7C in Ausland..
A lovely mix of people and their lives in the park and on the street. Well done Patti.
Thank you so much Gerard. Pelting rain and 7 degs sounds like summer in Devon! Hope it warms up for you soon.
un été en pente douce, comme j’aime
Merci beaucoup kenkiz!
Beautiful. Love it! You really capture the essence of The City. Takes me right back.
Love to hear some of your memories MBL!
Don’t make me jealous. What is my brother lookalike in the checked shirt eating – it looks revolting.
Your brother look alike (!) was enjoying a chocolate muffin . . .. I think. Hope to see you over here soon!
I love the fact that you capture such thoughtful expressions on people’s faces. And I found that I was looking into all the backgrounds in search of Judy and Megs. Couldn’t spot them, though.
That’s very sweet of you to say, thank you Gaynor. I took a photo not so long ago of Mr Kuche, printed and framed it but sadly he wasn’t very happy with it . . . . . 😦 – I had caught him “off-guard”. What to do?
Hope Judy and Megs are having fun and keeping cool!
Well, we are our own worst critics. It’s rare to see a photo of ourselves that we like. Never mind – keep the photo, framed and all, and I will enjoy it when I next visit. I’m sure it is excellent.
Had to reblog. You got me all misty-eyed this morning!
We thought childhood lasted forever!
The Tai chi one is my fave.
Each in a world of their own. Thank you John!
Reblogged this on S.K. Epperson.
Thank you so much SK and I do hope all is going well with your day! 🙂
As I browsed through this set of images this morning this soundtrack and video came to mind :{)
I haven’t heard this great song for so long, thank you Pat. Love that they are performing in the snow, those winter days seem so far away now don’t they?
I am having a Canned Heat moment!
coincidently later in the morning I was on the NPR site and they posted a fun – filled Summer Music mix that I shared out via this FB page:
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Patminnyc/318915804887423
What’s not to love about NPR but how could they leave Riders on the Storm off the list?
Nobody is perfect ;-{) – BTW my friends The Defibs are playing Union Pool in Brooklyn July 23rd if your interested.. a fun venue – been there a few times – let me know if you want more info …..
Be sure to check my last reply re: Wendy !!!
Thank you for this info Pat, putting it in the book!
As for those shoes, if they didn’t come with serious attitude before Wendy they sure do now. As for those comments, priceless!!!
Wonderful photos bringing back fond memories of Union Square where you see a bit of everything! However, I also have memories of a top-floor apartment without AC, which makes our rather wet and cool “summer” here in NL seem a little bit better. 🙂
Greetings Alison from my top-floor apartment where we might as well be without an AC which is chugging along like a choking tug-boat. Well and truly Canned Heat. I can always pick the people who live in apartment blocks with central air con – they walk the streets wearing cardigans!
Enjoy your NL “summer” and hope you get some dry spells soon!
So many people so nicely captured…. A moment in time
It’s the green grass! Thank you Derrick! 🙂
Patti, you rock color. You’ve captured the soul of the city. Color is for summer, B&W for winter. P;ease keep it up. thanks.
Wow Tom, I am deeply touched and most grateful, thank you!
Everyone just being cool in the heat! And you wrapping it all into one beautiful memory!
Awesome, Patti!
Hope you are keeping cool where you are Annie!
You too! Great set, Patti! You’re an expert at capturing life – I love (am envious of) the naturalness of your shots.
What to say, thank you Richard! My guess is that New Yorkers possess a state of naturalness from lives shared so much more fully out in the streets as respite from the intensity of apartment living, perhaps.
hot town, summer in the city…
what a joy to look at these pictures, wish i could be there
You would love it it Inge and I do hope you get to enjoy it one day soon!
You have really captured the feeling of summer in the city. Makes me want to go back to N.Y. Great images.
NY does extremes so well doesn’t it! Thank you Otto for your kind and valued words. I hope you find time in your busy schedule to get back to NY.
Thanks for a summer in the city visit to NY, one of my favorite places, especially to people watch!!! Have a great 4th Patti! Margie
Hello Margie, when will you be back in the city? Happy July 4 to you and your family!
Summer in the city, for sure. A diversity of characters in every photo along with a natural
unconcerned go-about-my day attitude. It’s the most fascinating part of the city.
The little girl is cute … the woman in a slip perhaps, ill.
You gotta love New York. ~~~~` : – O
Isadora
How much do you miss it Issy? The little girl was having such fun toddling about on those little legs. As for the woman who had slipped into something more comfortable, my earlier view has her as a he. As you say, you gotta love New York!
I do miss New York. When you’re older, you know you can’t keep up with the pace. The unique characters that are there is like no other place. People don’t look at you as different because they’re all different. I like things that are as distinctive as I am. The unique qualities makes them one-of-a- kind. Here, I am the one everyone is enthralled to see but in a judgemental way. But, I am an out-of-ordinary singular sensation.
I love New York ….!!!! ~~~~ : – )
lively and so many activities 🙂
Always something! 🙂
So alive these images! I feel as though I’m right there-wonderful!
And lovely to have you here, thank you Elena!
Your photos are always hot, too, Ms. K! Yet cool at the same time! The best of both worlds!
🙂
SiG, I have decided that after much wimping out resistance to the heat of a NY summer is futile so I might as well make the most of it. Thank you for your dose of cool!
A wonderful series showing the beauty of summer relaxation and fun.
Thank you Karen, it was one of those early “soft green grass” days of summer!
Great photos Patti…..love those street fairs…and “the dog days” of summer to come!
Trying not to think about those “dog days to come” just yet! I am sure you must have some Union Sq stories!
I love the child and adult sharing the drinking fountain. As for the guy with the grimace, what a great catch – I wonder what was in his water bottle!
What was in his water bottle? Serious attitude!
