April, Come She Will . . .
A murky spring day here in Gotham, such are the ups and downs of April . . . Stick an iPhone out the window and this is what you get, but, as ever, the sun is due to shine again! She'll change her tune . . . Happy April 12! * * * * *
She’ll be here soon. S&G music is wonderful. For Sunday decided to include Mumford and Sons doing “The Boxer” .. I’ve always liked and it’s been stuck in my head.
Isn’t that a great song, from a great album!
That sure is a Gotham City shot this morning! 🙂
To think we had 82deg sunshine heat only days before!
Laugh – that’s spring, eh? I remember when I lived in Canada one spring we had something similar and then a storm blew up and we woke to a foot of snow!
Wow, that must have been exciting, or tedious depending on how long that winter lasted! I shouldn’t complain, warm weather will settle here soon enough and I shall do my best to not complain about that either. Here’s hoping . . . .
I felt cold just watching the Yankees game tonight.
They did well though didn’t they!
Yes, especially CC who usually does better when the weather warms up.
Loved the triple play!
We had a viewing dilemma here at Casa Kuche where the Lord and Master, after his busy week, wanted to relax and wind down with Kevin Spacey and House of Cards. The triple play was a youtube feature first thing this morning!
Slightly warmer here today!
Glad it’s warmer, looking forward to today’s game.
You need another TV!
Are you watching now???
I taped the game and went out to lunch and came home to watch them lose. Hughes was so bad…
Bleak! Great shot.
Thank you Gaynor, it was so icy out there . . .
We are about to see ‘Black Caviar’ possibly winning it’s 25th horse race, she has won the previous 24 races. The nation (Australia) is standing still!
Great shot Patti. lovely hue of mauve just adding to its atmosphere.
What is that smoking chimney still doing?
The chimney sneaked out for a quiet one, like a pimply teenager who thinks he’s never going to be caught. .. .
Did “Black Caviar” win the title? I could google it but I expect your response would be far more entertaining!
My murk is not the same. I’m in the Lake District for a weekend photoshoot. Typical Lake District weather, rain, rain and more rain. I’m morning here in the UK and I’m sitting at my bedroom window in the hotel looking at low lying wall to wall cloud. Can’t see the hills, can’t see the lake, can’t see anything. Maybe I can get them under the trade descriptions act, they said I would have great views of the lake and hills…..ah we’ll such is the wonders of nature.
Every time I have been in the Lakes District I always feel as though I have come down with glaucoma. Hope the clouds part for you soon Mike and I am sure you will manage some excellent shots up there, whatever the weather!
Oh, that industry photo is really great, but at the same time I am happy my views are different.
Thank you Bente, I love your views!
This image is brilliant. The striped stacks make me think of Yasujiro Ozu’s film AUTUMN AFTERNOON.
Thank you Terry – I have put Autumn Afternoon on my must see list! The stacks in this shot are often featured in NYC films, usually in nail biting potential end of the world scenarios!
I like “April come she will” 😉 though when I saw the leg cover I was expecting Mrs Robinson tune 😉
Paula, I gave the leg cover the chop – as much as I adore The Graduate, and the poster, the page looked too cluttered so I edited it into a link. Hate to admit it but this light dawned on me in the middle of the night . . . 😦
I like the result Patti 🙂
Thank you Paula, the things we do for blogs! 🙂
Great shot with an iPhone, Patti! The red color and symmetry of the buildings (even the cloud of smoke) are a delightful study.
Some times the clouds just come together and put on a show. Thanks Annie for sharing the view!
Just an excellent shot – exactly what I love about the city – my city – finding beauty everywhere, and having to work a little for it. I think all those years of doing that help develop my eye.
You have such a wonderful eye BB with all that spectacular colour and detail from the other side of the country. I love your thoughts on beauty and the city! How much do you miss your city?
Delicious bleakness, Patti! Love S&G – they’re a real Spring and Autumn band.
Thank you Richard, I know we grizzle about the weather etc but it is certainly provides an array of moods! As do S & G!
We’re enjoying an autumn here in southeastern Australia like an extended summer. Coldish nights but mid twenties Celsius and bright sunshine during the day … lovely 🙂
Sounds absolutely gorgeous Geoff and good to hear you are enjoying it!
This shot is great! I really like the atmosphere and the colors … very dramatic
Thank you Anette, it was one of those days . . .
I’ve always wondered what organization runs that old coal fired plant there at the edge of the Easy River. I’ve never found out. I’m going to have to get serious and look it up. Those smokes stack have been icons of the NYC skyline since about WWII.
I think ConEd are the proud owners of these iconic smoke stacks – I keep meaning to cross the river and getting a close look. Thank you Allan for kind words and inspiration/motivation!
this is the first shot I’ve seen at yours that fits the stereotype of have of life in the big city!! 🙂 kinda iconic, I think!!
Derrick, if only I had known earlier! I have so many of these sorts of shots – careful what you ask for! 🙂
LOL, I bet!!!
We just have to live each new day as if it’s a precious gift. When I wake up in the morning I like to think that this day will be better than any day I’ve ever lived. ~ J.E.B. SPREDEMANN
great shot.
thebestdressup
Wonderful words, thank you so much!
You manage to make a cold and dreary day seem dramatic! 😀
Sometimes those big beefy clouds drift by to provide all the drama! 🙂
Remembering The Graduate, OMG, decades and decades ago. And it’s April again —always April again —
To quote from another older song, “Oh, It’s a long long way from May to December, and the days grow short …..”
You certainly make the most of your days, Patti! And help us make the most of ours —
Isn’t The Graduate one of the best films ever – do you have a favourite scene?
Not a scene, a line:
Plastics!
Yes, Mr Robinson. 😦
Looking forward to sunshine 😀
It’s getting here and hope same for you Cardinal!
