I had the pleasure of meeting Sid not so long ago, down in that you know where part of town . . .
Union Square.
Not only was he on his way uptown, he really was very sweet!

Out there! In more ways than one! Perfect framing, Patti!
Do you just walk up to people and ask to photograph them?
I am so very impressed with your work. Blessings!
Thank you Annie for your lovely words! My very simple approach is . . . . difficult to explain and has as much to do with the attitudes here in NYC where people seem happy enough to have their photos taken. So many people just take my breathe away, Sid amongst them, and most of the time I am on my way somewhere so most of it really does happen in passing. I don’t think I was exaggerating when I saw Sid and let him know how cool I thought he was!
Good and wonderful photo. I just hope Sid hasn’t insisted on a lockable chastity belt for his girl friend with that little key hanging from his ear! On the other hand that button with a friendly ‘let’s fuck’ seems to indicate a choice option instead of an ‘order’. π
Another incredible street portrait, Ms. K…
you must be sick of hearing me say it, but I very, very much admire your ability to work so quickly like that… around so many people… who you’ve more likely than not just met seconds before!
π
I just love people watching – how wonderful that you can capture them!
I was at IKEA last week, and one of their employees was covered in tats and had a Mohawk type haircut that stood up about 6 inches off of his head. Fascinating. Even more interesting was that not many people even seemed to notice him.
Some people just have that certain “je ne sais quoi” where tats and Mohawks, leather and bandanas are concerned. I always wonder though what the nursing home recreation rooms of the future are going to look like with all those droopy gauged earlobes and saggy tats . . .
He’s a familiar NY type, and I’m so glad people like Sid, your openness to the world around you and your great eye meet up on this blog – it’s a pleasure.

Thank you for sharing that, Patti!
Sid seems to have his stuff together. The picture on an iPhone? Damn you’re good. Yes I notice the notes.
Until I downloaded the shot I didn’t realise just how much stuff Sid had going on!

Always best to go with the more friendly option.
So, was he coming or going, Patti? Great shot π
As an innocent abroad I couldn’t possibly tell!
I’ve often wondered how you manage to photograph people as well. Great picture, good framing and black an white does it justice
Thank you Mike for your kind words. Sid was a most affable subject!
Interesting character with make-up and a bandana – great catch π
He wears it well!
I felt intimidated until I saw the whites of his eyes – they are not fearsome at all! Fascinating photograph Patti.
So pleased you found the calm spot Philippa!

Oh SiG, you are so sweet, really! To tell you the truth, I find it all very relaxing. π
This is brilliant! Really dig Sid’s style. Very cool.
Thank you Richard, I often think how much fun you would have over here!

Thank you mango shenanigans – love your handle!
