Such a Quiet Day. . .
It was such a quiet, bright day of crisp winter sunshine down in Union Square today - and a Friday at that! I thought I was hibernating - turns out I am not doing it on my own. Not that I have been huddling quietly in the back of a dark cave waiting for winter to pass (I love winter) but time has passed by so quickly and still I am thinking back to events from the past few months. More of which later. But back to the quiet bliss of Union Square in the afternoon when the bonus of dancing in the street struck. And how much fun was it to find someone having some fun, all out there and on his own? Channeling his inner Prince! I took these photos in plain view of the performer and his performance - I have a big camera, no point hiding, let's all be honest about what we're doing. "Did you get me?" he asked. Thank you, I acknowledged. Yes, I did get you. More than you will ever know.
You are such an amazing photographer! I especially love the first shot … I want it! 🙂 Tweeting this now 🙂
I love him.
thanks.
I love the blue sky, the bare trees, and the shadows on the path. I can really feel the beginning of February in NYC.
There is nothing like Manhattan in the winter. No city I know can look so warm in the cold if you know what I mean. It has the heat of eight million hearts beating that give it warmth. Lovely photos Patti!
Lovely work, PK. Good to see you are back out there – I have missed your photojournalism recently.
can feel the atmosphere!
and never hide your camera, i never do and never had any trouble… indeed, let’s be honest
Fabulous photo study. What an interesting location and subject. Have a great weekend Patti.
The whole world’s a show and you are capturing a wonderful part of it! Rock on, Patti!
Missed your presence in this virtual part of the world. Good to have you back!
Very cool! “Did you get me?” LOVE it and your photos.
Want to sit on a long seemingly eternal park bench trying to decipher Ulysses. It’s Joyce’s birthday. Had the day planned but a new post jumped up. I adore your pictures.
Oh yes, have an intersting weekend.
Lovely, positive portraits, Patti – you got his heart and soul. I really hope he’s a Prince fan.
Terrific post. A cold day in New York, someone making himself warm (and other people as well). Wonderful photos. You captured him at just the right moments when his soul was shining through. Your gift.
And that’s a quiet day?? :).
Fabulous, Patti. Just walkin’ along … two arms strike a pose … Yeah, now we got him too!
Oddly enough, I did a little dance myself. The fox-trot as I was taught years ago. Should I do a tempestuous Lambada next?
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! 🙂
You have a gift for capturing the big scene as well as the small detail. The city comes alive in your photographs.
Oh, you got him for sure 🙂 and a cute guy it is :). I love your street photography Patti, but my favourite is the first one in this series, such a beautiful melancholy….
Excellent photographs. You captured “Prince” with flair and beauty. I am sure he will be happy with the result. Wonderful light and colours.
Marvelous sequence of pictures in a winter passes slowly. 🙂
My Goodness … it’s the artist now known as Prince 😉
Beautiful series of pictures Patti 🙂
Union Square will always be one of my absolute favourite places in Manhattan. Wonderful photos!
Briliant Patti! Love his expression in that second but last shot 🙂
I SO admire the great courage you display with your street-work, Ms. K…
(although I’ll probably have ‘Purple Rain’ stuck in my head for the better part of a week, now… 😉 )!
the place looks very nice and active 🙂
nice tribute to this dancer – he should be proud, that you discovered him!
Before I read your narrative, I thought “the doppelganger of Prince!” I think I got him, too. Love the bold approach to the photography, and having a very willing subject sure helps! Nice street work!
He does look a bit like Prince . 🙂
not getting your post notifications
Oh dear . . . 😦
I love the freedom of this dancer. A beautiful post, Patti. Wonderful photography!
The dancer does resemble Prince. Was he Vogueing?
Not normally my common word of choice but this pics made me say, “Totally Fabulous!”
Very kind of you to say, thank you IT!
