Breck Streets & Youth Dew Tour!
Not too many people about on the streets of Breckenridge, an old gold-mining town in the Colorado Rockies, the other day. Either it was too cold or they were too busy up on the slopes training for the Dew Tour 2012. Here are some of the competitors, the young and the restless with the energy and talent to fly! The word on the slopes? Awesome!![]()

Excellent shots of the town. Colorado has always managed to keep one foot in the past and at the same time move forward. You’re lucky.
Thank you Tom. Breckenridge is a sweet little town while others nearby were lucky enough to get Walmart’s and a whole collection of outlet malls and giant car parks . . . .
Looks like an exciting competition is about to unleash in the midst of a calm, quiet, Winter day. Beautiful images. You captured the magic of the season with an exciting, fun twist of the Dew Tour. Keep us updated. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas.
IT, I am in awe of snowboarders and skiers who use this terrain on an ordinary day, let alone a competition with the best of! Merry Christmas wishes to you and your family – a little warmer where you are I suspect!
These are great! I love those snowy streets. Beautiful winter shots. Sure would be fun to watch the competition also. Thanks for sharing some snow with us. 🙂
So much more snow has fallen since leaving town! Hope you get some snow your way soon Terry, if that’s what you want!
It is snowing as I type. Went out for a walk this morning. Pure delight.
Lovely! Can’t wait to see what you and your camera do with it. Keep warm! (I just downloaded Lycia as a Solstice treat, thank you!)
Strange feel about the town. It could be a movie set with all the buildings looking so clean and new. Gorgeous snowy scenes and eager Dew-ers.
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, two of whom might well be the Coen brothers perhaps!
Looks like you’re having a marvelous time!!! 🙂 Nicely captured.
Thank you Derek, a good time was enjoyed by all!
Pictures of the landscape, the town and the people got me thinking of a Santa village. This post is really making me feel like Christmas. Tweeting now 🙂
Breck does go to town for the Christmas cheer! Thank you LFR for the tweet!
Anytime Patti! Happy Holidays 🙂
Patti … I just wanted to say thank you for being one of my earliest subscribers and for sharing your wonderful photography to the world. Stay safe this year and enjoy your holidays 🙂
Oh my goodness, my absolute pleasure and thank you so much for your entertaining bursts of fresh fun! All best wishes to you for your writing, I know you can do it and trust you do too. Happy holidays and can’t wait to hear all about the latest!
Fantastic! Your use of colour is wonderful. Particularly dig the close-up portrait with the tiny fragments of snow dancing in the air. Great.
Honestly Richard, the colour was all there for the taking! Thank you so much for your kind words!
Now Patti, can you seriously imagine this happening in London 😉 Fascinating set of shots and a wonderful contrast between the town shots and those fo the competitors!
The headlines if this were to happen in London, or anywhere in the UK, when 1cm of snow is enough for headlines to screech and moan about Travel Traffic Chaos!!!
Looked at the title “Youth Dew Tour” and immediately thought of Estee Lauder out and about…
I was being kind – young cheeky brat dew tour would have sounded so bitter and full of envy, which is how I really felt . . .
There you have more snow than me at the moment! Interesting buildings in this town.
And more has fallen since! Hope you are enjoying a decent winter where you are under those beautiful blue skies!
So festive looking, Ms. K!
Looks like you’ve created more photographic gold!
🙂
It’s that time of year for festive! “Santa” was on the flight out to LA on the way to Denver, sitting up the front as though the pilots were his personal reindeer. It was all very surreal . . . . and thank you so much for your generous comment which is as close to gold as I am ever going to get!
Colorado Rockies, without any hurricane Sandy or school massacre – I like the light blue car and the green wooden house below there – a quiet paradise …
Indeed Frizz . . .
Rather cool pics!
Thank you lemonissimo and thank you for your mountain views!
Love that blue truck! Did you hit the slopes yourself?
That blue truck is very popular and it was such a treat to find it sitting there, looking so bright in the snow. As for hitting the slopes, yes Annie, I did. In fine style! Fortunately I was able to pick myself up and move on . . . .
As I was scrolling down the photos, through some quirk of wordpress they would whirl by in a snowy fashion, so that I had the eerie feeling the snow was right in the room with me! The old-fashioned town with the newfangled young people from another planet kept the eeriness alive.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas, Patti, and wishes for a healthy and happy New Year for you and yours.
Yes, the WP snowfall does look good in the right place! Hope you and your family enjoyed a wonderful Christmas and all best wishes to you for the New Year!
