Very quick and far quicker than I am feeling now after a long night. . . I took this photo Sept 2010 when I was wandering about downtown and was taken with the vibrancy and enthusiasm!
As you can guess there was quite a lot of interest here in the UK. Sky must have sent most of their top news team to Chicago, Boston and Washington and we had updates right through the night on how the election was going.
Did they make the right choice, only time will tell but from what I heard today the Republicans will try and block again anything he tries to do.
Who knew there were so many news teams in so many places and I am sure the BBC was all over it. Did you enjoy the broadcast? The big surprise here was the quality of Mitt’s concession speech. The GOP has so much work ahead of itself and I so hope that’s the last of the Tea Party and if they continue to be as obstructive as ever what future for the GOP? The demographics are changing, record numbers of Latinos are eligible to vote and women don’t want to go down those old paths of hard fought for rights etc etc
Where exactly is the mural, Patti? I have a friend who lives on First Avenue, just below 16th Street. I was down there last year, walking around the same neighborhood, but somehow missed this.
The mural is down on Ave C, b/w 5th & 6th St. At least I hope it is still there! I have been down in that part of town many times since but I could never remember exactly which block it was, vaguely knowing it was around a corner (!) near Tompkins Square. Part of me wants to think it is still there, as bright as ever in the sunshine of those hopes and dreams!!!
Hello Pie, so good to see you out and about! There are some decent people in the Republican party who need to get rid of that old guard of bitter bigots. The GOP has to face the future.
The banks had a muppet in place for 8 years! GWBush remains toxic not only to the country as a whole but to the GOP in particular- his was the name the Republican campaign dare not mention. As for Mitt, the ultimate puppet meister?
Hi Patti π I am glad we don’t have this type of grafitti here π with our political scheme… Do you mind if I mention the typo in your post in “puede” dear? Hope, you don’t mind π
Great shot – the sort of shot that’s worth keeping in your archive for when the right moment comes π I am personally pleased with the US People’s choice and couldn’t help laughing at Trump’s rant – that guy makes the worst excesses of our UK right wing seem like acceptable behaviour!
This year my birthday fell on Election Day, and what a grand visit the people gave to me! And I’ve generously shared it with everyone. The tea party seriously scares me, and Paul Ryan is as scary as Savanarola must have been, so I’m awfully glad they didn’t sweep into power. I cannot, with the best will in the world, understand the people who don’t see this. They must be dreaming with their eyes wide open, like the old song.
Many Happy Returns for the day Judith! What a gift, and thank you so much for sharing!!! Do you think Mitt might claim all that election spending as a tax deduction?
Very artistic graffitti. My hope and prayers for a better, brighter America particularly for our children. Time to embrace a new dawn after the elections. Great post.
That is quick!

The sunshine in this shot is so at odds with the weather here now – more wind, rain and snow. One of those days! Hope all fine where you are Madhu!
Yes, nice and bright after the drama of that cyclone last week!

Did they make the right choice? You might enjoy this from today’s NYT’s.

Brilliant post! You rock!
Thank you Annie, it is a great city!
You saw the future. Wow! The Trumpster’s full rant is posted in Yahoo and YouTube. Enjoy the snow.
Noooo, not the Trumpster! I know it is a free country with free speech etc but with all the trash from Trump and Rush, it hurts.
I hope he can smash through those Republican barriers this time and get to do what he promised. There are sober days ahead, but for now, let’s rock!

Quick work! π
One I made earlier, just waiting for the day!
Ahhh, right! π
π
Now the banks will have the same puppet in the theatre for the next 4 years.

Obama is nothing but a puppet either. The only difference is the color of his skin – which makes him more edible for a lot of the vote-cattle.

Yes, you cna mention the typo – what would I do without you! Thank you!
Just as well I wasn’t out with my paint brush or spray can. I take it you are not happy with the political scheme where you are?
Nope, never am π
congrats U.S. for a good choice, for a man with social responsibility (at least more than Romney)
Frizz, have you seen this – Why Obama Now?
Beautiful street art Patti I love it, but for sure some politician don`t like it he,he,he
Congratulation to Mr President again π
He did well getting both the popular vote and the Electoral College vote!

Martin, have you met Dick Morris?
Trump has company!
Yes, I have now… And I see lots of others too π¦ Thank god for the English Democracy… I think π

I mean present, of course, not visit!
But thank you for visiting us with your presence!
