Men on Madison
It might be hot in the city but these men are cool!
I was rushing to an appointment (the dentist, if you must know . . . ) when I was most happily distracted by the following visions of summer loveliness walking down, and near, Madison Avenue. Allow me to introduce you!
First is Patrick – he was off to hear a reading of a musical by a talented friend who has worked on a musical for the past twenty years. “He is just so talented but lacking in chutzpah . . . I mean he would never leave his house dressed like this!”
Running late and resisting the urge to tag along to the reading with Patrick I saw Constantine! How could I allow such a gentleness of sartorial splendour to pass me by?
George, delighted by my request to photo him in Constantine’s wake!
and Marvin, leaning against the wall of Barneys. Marvin had a great smile, trust me! I just didn’t get it in the short space of time!
Thank you all kind gentlemen for your generosity and time, lovely to have met you!
iPhone rush shots!
Those are freaking awesome! I was i had the chutzpah to walk out of the house like that as well (Patrick or Constantine). I love the hats.
Andy, there is nothing to stop you, although I am sure you have your own inimitable Texas style! The hat could be a good starting point!
Oh yes, wonderful to meet the Madison Avenue Men. Almost like being in Paris, or Italy!
And they were all so sweet! I am so pleased you enjoyed meeting them. They all shared such an easy going sense of pleasure and comfort!
I guess men, like women of style, share that easy charm, and enjoy a little attention!
They’re very stylish in NY, aren’t they? I think they could give the men in Paris a run for their money…
Pie, how willing are you to be in the run on behalf of London man? Bearing in mind that NY style is whatever!
Men can dress up. Patrick is, dare I say it, natty. Personally I hate dressing up, but I’ve no reason to.
Freedom of expression Tom, where would we be without it I ask – as a fellow dress downer!
Great good shots. A different post. Interesting.
Carlos…
Carlos, I promise you – these men popped up out of nowhere, all within the space of two blocks and not many minutes more. More than anything, I admired a certain confidence and graciousness they all shared whilst staking their places in the rich variety of this fascinating city! Have you had the chance yet to visit NY?
Gracias and Adios!
Well who can resist a woman photographer and secure with a beautiful smile. There have never been to NY. only in Texas, a couple of times. In regard to those people who good opportunity to take good pictures.
Half your luck! The afterglow would have made the dental procedure quite bearable…
Don’t start me on the dentist . . . I sometimes think I could devote a whole blog to this, a Dental Diablogue! Yes, you are right, the meeting and the photos gave me something to work on even if my teeth give the dentist too much to work on . . .
They are sharp and cool! Nicely seen in that city of style … I would love to visit NYC … one day 🙂
I hope you do get to visit one day – you would love it! Very child friendly as well!
Nice photos. Very Bill Cunningham-like!
I would love to get a shot of BC at work, safe in the knowledge that I will never be in front of his camera! Well, maybe in the way a little . . .
I’ll never be one to appear in one of his photos either, but I too would love to see him. Have kept my eyes open for him whenever I’m near 57th & 5th. Other tourists may be there looking to window shop at Bergdorf’s or Tiffany’s, but I want to see Bill Cunningham in action.
I suspect certain people have regular dates with Bill!
I would agree, esp after seeing the movie Bill Cunningham, New York. If you haven’t seen it, you should. I think it’s on NetFlix.
Gone to the top of the list, thanks Anne!
Madison is one place to discover and celebrate oneself. Cool post my friend!
One of many, many places in the city, thank you IT!
They have the clothes — but Patti, you’ve got the eye!
Dang it, woman, is there anything you can’t make look wonderful with your little camera eye? And from an iPhone yet!!!!!!!
Judith, you are too kind! How much fun are you having with your new iPhone?
How i wish to wear a suite like that ,but all i can wear everyday is the last one below lol, thanks foe sharing Patti 🙂
Jake, I am with you on the everyday wear but love that others are so happy to dress up in whatever!
they are stylish 🙂
Aren’t they just!
Glad to see dandyism is not dying out in NY. Great shots!
Thank you Richard! I adore the confidence that goes with it!
These are great Patti 🙂 You (they) have made me smile.
Paula, they made my day and I am so pleased they made you smile! 🙂
Great pictures Patti. Quite different from what we see in your blog. 🙂
Moment of confession Arindam . . . one day I might show my complete collection! 🙂
pretty dapper fellas!! 🙂
I am guessing a different sort of dapper out at Big Bend!
clearly!
You sure could have fooled me that these were ‘rush-shots’ Ms. K…
I’m becoming a broken record, but your street work never fails to impress me!
🙂
Why am I always rushing to the dentist, a thought I pondered as I sat waiting in the waiting room for a long time . . .
