I would love to go to the beach, however this weekend, I bet it would be a crowded nightmare. Soon, though. In the meantime, I hope you are enjoying your Memorial Day weekend, Patti. Thanks for the incentive to hit the road. π
Marcy, these photos from the archive were as close as I was able to get to the beach for the w/end but I did get to Redhook, in Brooklyn, instead! Not exactly tropical seas and yellow sand but the harbour breeze was a relief from the heat. And now, a week later . . . hope you enjoyed your Memorial Day and all best for when you do hit the road! Any particular direction in mind?
Hi Patti, more than likely, if I get to the beach anytime soon, it will be Virginia Beach, about 100 miles from where I live. If time and money allow, I may try to head down to Manteo, NC this summer and visit my sister for a few days. She is about 10 miles from the beach at Nags Head. These days, I play everything by ear. Memorial Day was great. I hope yours was, too. π
Miami now thru end of Sept will be 98 and humid. Death March to be outside. And hurricane season begins. Not hit since ”05 with Wilma and Katrina, expect a killer this year. Can’t wait for Oct relief. Surfs up – naw 3 feet at best.
You are right about it not being Jones Beach! This is the bright blue sun of Waikiki Beach some time ago where I hid under the shifting shade. Meanwhile here in NYC the sun is shining its little heart out and hope by now you are getting some of the joy where you are
Summer is so dfifferent all over the world – I can’t picture this as summer in the UK but clearly it’s an image of summer in other parts of the world. Nice set of shots Patti π
That bright blue Hawaiian sky is never going to be mistaken for that which hovers over UK shores but I do love the gentleness of a Devon summer! Hope you enjoy yours this year Martin!
After looking at your wonderful photos the beach is calling like never before! I’m not much of a swimmer, but I never mind the chance to spend some time walking along a sandy coastline! Beautiful, Ms. K!
π
SiG, to tell you the truth I am not too sure why people feel the need to swim so strenuously in any water when bobbing up and down is so relaxing! Hope you get to feel the sand between your toes some time soon and thank you as always for your very kind thoughts!
And they spoke so beautifully…
A perfect fusion of the Fun under the Sun, clear blue skies, cool blue waters, of surfers and their boards, of walks on the beach…this is what life should be. Just enjoying a day with joy, peace…even with a wonderful dream or two. Love it!
Fine words from the Island Master, thank you IT! Not far from where I took these photos is a lovely bar where I sought shade from the hot sun – the Mai Tais were absolutely dreamy!
Your photo’s are great. I like the last one best. I am trying to figure out what he’s trying to do. It looks like a little boy type prank. The beach can bring out the kid in us. Nice entry for the challenge.

Until October Carl, keep cool . . . . you have my sympathy.
Surely not Jones Beach, not with those colors!
Hope the sun is shining for your weekend, it’s kind of ambivalent up here —

Thanks Jo, those boards were bigger than any waves happening out there that day!
Looks nice, Trish. But I think you might need a reminder on what REAL surf looks like! Great shots. xx
Trish, waiting for the Big Kahuna! Until then, happy enough to bob up and down on the tiddlers . . .
I miss the summer, here is autumn. Very good shots.
I would love to know more about summer in your part of the world, and, until it comes back again I wish you cosy autumn days and nights!
