I never really think of Edinburgh as having a harbour, even although I lived just outside the city for years. But there again when you consider that there’s Granton and Leith, both big ports, nearby….
Nice image, by the way and I like the way you’ve added interest with the 4 boats.
Mike, I was so grateful to read your comment – I had to google “Edinburgh Harbour” just to make sure it existed because I wasn’t too sure it had one either! Pleased you liked the shot, thank you!
On a day like today, It would be just the ticket. There is a gentle breeze to compliment a cloudless sky here, this morning. Looks like it will a beautiful day. I hope you have a beautiful day, Patti. Thanks for stopping by.
Pete, perhaps the sailors dropped anchor there to eat at the restaurant nearby where the oysters and chardonnay were very good indeed! Either way, I do hope they didn’t end up too much under the weather.
It’s a picture that makes you mind rest in peace. In terms of composition I really like that the mast of the sail boat is coming up between the two piers. Very, soft and nice light. Right now I am ready a book by Ian Rankin which takes places in Edinburgh, so it was double fun to see your picture.
Thank you so much Otto. The evening was indeed very peaceful and this was the calm after a day of constant rain. Ian Rankin does do a wonderful job of painting the Edinburgh landscape with his words.
Wonderful photographs Patti. Perfect for this week’s theme. I like the way you shot the open space of the barricade as the center of this photograph. Great post. 🙂
a great image for this challenge.
I visited Scotland for one week about 100 years ago, more or less, long before digital cameras were in vogue. I remember old castles, but not harbours. Such a peaceful view. thanks for sharing.
This is beautiful! What a great idea for through! I live around a lot of lakes and I’ve seen plenty of boats try to get through… but we don’t have the beautiful lighthouse.
I suspect I am happier with the stories of great adventure than I am with the reality! All best to you IT for a good week and heading over to your Island Travels soon!

That photo looks like an invitation to go sailing … right through the barricade and out into the open sea. Wonderful take for ‘through’. 🙂
Wouldn’t that be lovely Marcy, to sail off into the sunset . . .

Such a lovely thought and do hope you are enjoying more beautiful days where you are Marcy!
Great shot Patti and fits the challenge so well! Margie
Thank you Margie, something peaceful to get through the week-end!
I like the way the boats have clarity but the fog is hazy; as fogs should be.
Nice shot ….
Don’t you just love a good fog, as long as you don’t need to battle your way through it . . . Thank you Isadora!
Love the look of the water and boats in the foreground to hazy background, great picture..;0
Gerry, I can see you on the deck of one of these, with your guitar . . .
As long as you cant hear me,,LOL.. thanks so much.;)
great atmosphere with the background hazy
Thank you Jo! I have to tell you I was feeling very lazy and hazy when I chose this shot for this week’s challenge . . .
Well your lazy and hazy works for me…
Thanks Jo, one week later and I still haven’t moved from this spot . . .
So jealous right now…hehe
I cannot help meself, those boats without canopies will sink next time it rains – somebody do something!

Lovely, Ms. K…
a perfect entry for this challenge, too… this photograph really does lead your eye right in…
ready to set-sail right on ‘through’!
🙂
Right on “through” to goodness knows where which could well be part of the attraction! Glad to have you on board SiG!

Excellent shot Patti what a complete boat docking site from sea wall to lighthouse 🙂
Aren’t lighthouses wonderful? Something so mysterious about them, wherever they are. Thanks Jake!
it always takes courage to leave the safety of an harbor behind …

Thank you Arindam! I am not a sailor but I love the thought of sailing through that barrier, don’t you?
Amazing photo Patti! Love this very peaceful scene. Makes me want to sail through the opening in the seawall and out into the open waters too.
Thank you Theresa and so pleased you enjoyed the lulling calm of these waters!

Thank you Beebles! Love the idea of boating on some of those lakes . . . .
A harbor that leads to many adventures and stories that inspires the heart. Beautiful photo. So peaceful. So amazing. Thanks . Have a great weekend.
