Weekly Photo Challenge: Up
I spent the last week in Los Angeles. During an idle afternoon of sunshine at the fabulous Venice Beach I watched in awe as a group of young, and older, boys skated on their boards. With wild abandon and total confidence they flew around the cement ponds, fearless and as light as feathers.
Here is one of them, up in the air. Shooting the breeze.
Makes me want to be there!
On your skates Alan!
This is a great picture – beautiful colours in the sky, sea and sand, plus the interesting shadow cast by the skateboarder (who almost looks superimposed). Looked at in isolation, you would never guess the shadow is that of a skateboarder.
I am guessing the shadow was distorted by the curve of the base . . .? That boy made it look SO easy, so simple! Thanks so much for comment!
It looks like it was such a nice day. Cool pic.
It was such a lovely day – my guess is you would really enjoy it! (Checking in asap to find out what happened to Lucy et al!)
I also like the shadow from the skateboarder.
Thank you!
Up in action. Super cool. The beach view is a nice bonus. Thanks.
Island Traveller, the skaters are the cool ones and I just wish I knew more about my camera. Working on it. Glad you enjoyed it.
Hi Patti, I’m back..I love this entry of yours..so cool from the background up to the shadow. You have a great shot here seems a fantasy for me having this cool and very soothing color..
P.s
Great shot..
Hey John, good to see you back! Do you skate at all? It looks to be so much fun but then they did make it look so easy. Am hoping to do another post with more shots so stay tuned – please and thank you! Looking fwd to seeing more of your lovely tropical delights which is my fantasy!
Skaters always look so cool and you’ve captured it perfectly. I love the colours too.
Pie, they are indeed a cool bunch of clever kids – I have a batch of other photos I want to put together, one day. Venice Beach is another universe. Have you ever watched the documentary “Dogtown and Z-Boys?” Thoroughly recommend it and love to know what you think. Thanks for looking and glad you enjoy!
I love all the motion in this shot (it might even encourage me to get off the couch)…
too cool!
SIG, the motion in real time is incredible, with a soundtrack all to it’s own! You, with your camera, would love it!
