Weekly Photo Challenge: Mountains
Having grown up beside the sea, I came to mountains in later years whereupon I fell in love with all a mountainous landscape has to offer. The peace, the quiet, the bliss of solitude, the freezing temperatures with nature at its most capricious. Brilliant sunshine one day, blizzards the next. The effort in getting to a peak, the exhilaration of flying down the mountain on a thick cushion of fresh snow and feeling forever young. . . . such is the thrill of winter in the mountains, mountains which are of themselves eternal landscapes of awe and majesty.
. . . and just for fun,
. . . some Mountain Men!
Beautiful photo. And men, too! LOL
Thank you for your comment and for the pingback! So pleased the mountain men gave you a LOL!
Your relationship to mountains is definitely different from mine!
I like sitting on the patio and gazing out at them from afar in clement weather.
Yours is much closer to the 18th century notion of the sublime — magnificent and awe-inspiring in aspect AND weather. Daring, challenge, all that exciting stuff. Dunno about the men, could be similar. After all — bare-chested in the snow is something —
😉
Each time I fly across the US I think of the pioneers who crossed this land in covered wagons and the native Americans before them. The challenges indeed!
I love your Arizona sunset shots, a landscape perfect for sitting and gazing at, although I know I would enjoy it more in winter when it is more like a UK summer!
As for the men (I missed the girl in the bikini . . .), I am going to let their smiles do all the talking!
Went browsing among your nylons just now, and have added you to my blogroll.
Cheers!
Oh dear, my nylons are a little on the messy side but absolutely thrilled that you have added me to your blogroll. Thank you so much!

Thank you John for your lovely comment. It truly is an amazing planet and how we fit into the geography (let alone what we do to it . . . ) is always so humbling, don’t you think?

Great photo of mountains blanketed in snow. I like what you write as well. I know that wonder.
Thank you so much and well done on your recent Fresh Pressed – I was excited enough for you! Mountains to me are gifts which just keep on giving, and that’ s before a single photo is taken. Enjoy your wonder!
